Never mind...Seb just said there is no 'wet set-up' any longer...they were running with their best set up. Still not buying it. Stroll/Ocon can't be faster than Vettel in the wet.
Its obvious he's put in plenty of practice time on the 401 in spring . Kudos to Urkel, quite the record and he earned it today.
Something just wasn't right. It's like they forgot a screw or something and the horsepower was just leaking! I mean every car seems better than Ferrari in Q3 suddenly.
My congrats to Stroll for an exceptional performance today. That earns him the right to be in F1 alright, even if we won't say he's one of the better drivers yet. Also in a session where skill and bravery were at the fore, Stroll absolutely slaughtered his experienced teammate, Massa, by 1.2 seconds. Massa has always sucked in wet conditions, he's completely useless, and he proved it again today.
Sad that Mercedes hadn't yet found its legs until after Schui left. That stint has been used by some to suggest that Michael had either "lost it" or "never really had it", both of which are nonsense. The car is 95% of F1. If you can't get at least that close to your rival, you CANNOT beat him unless circumstances work in your favor somehow. Mercedes is far more ahead of the pack than 5%. Last weekend, Seb on Ultrasofts couldn't even challenge Elton on Softs, so he never really had a chance.
Anyhow the F2 is finally starting now ...should be interesting, with Honda driver Matsu****a on pole! Just remember to turn down the commentary from the italian guy
Yeah, because Ferrari never had a dominant car in all the years that Schumacher drove for them and scored 5 titles in a row...
If Lewis survives the first chicane, he has it in the bag. But I'm worried about the two rookies up front crashing into him. As for Ferrari: They got their work cut out as well. Not a comfortable situation to be in when approaching that first chicane. Many things could go wrong. And then they face an uphill battle to climb forward. IMHO Italian GP will be all about the first chicane. We'll see.
+1 probably correct. Lance will probably be extremely cautious on the first lap and may create problems for those following. If Ocon sees a gap he will go for it Mercedes engine or not.
Right, it is all Hamilton it has nothing to do with being in the most dominant car in Formula 1 history from 2014-2016. The honor really needs to go to the team for figuring out the rules, building the right engine and continually developing the car. Look at his record before 2014, good but not great. He is in the top 3 in F1 but his record has been flattered by his situation (good on him for jumping to the best team and abandoning the Titanic that is McLaren before it the iceberg).
So, can we just give the WDC to Hamilton now and end the season? The only good thing was having Mr. Sweater there watching the humiliation of Stroll going faster than either Ferrari.
I think you'll believe what you want to believe. Being all time greatest at achieving pole is the definition of . . . . AWESOMNESS . . . . . . !
Several drivers have been in the same team, but none of them have extracted the most of the car as Hamilton has done so often. You can denigrate his achievements as much as you wish, the facts are there.
