And again and again the talk about the achievements of Lewis regarding stats...
And in the same stats Rosberg is No.12 of all time race winners and a WDC...but asking the same people who underline Lewis stats all the time I doubt any of them would put Nico in the top 12 of the GOAT, especially the one who lately can not post anything more substential than "Hammertime" or "+44" just for opportonism ;)

Guys, stats mean nothing. Back in the day they had 8 races per season, now they have 20 and they want to add even more.

Jeez, this is the Italian GP thread. Go to the Hamilton sucks thread to discuss your "differences".

I don't care if you agree with me or not will. I don't like him, end of. My opinion is as valid as anyone's.

Well, whatever you think about him, you cannot deny the facts.
Hamilton is also the best qualifier of all time.

    You should simply acknowledge that.

I don't like him much myself, but I am not blinded by that to constantly lambast him and diminish his achievements.

Hamilton is the best qualifier ever, and the most successful driver we ever had in Britain.

That's something to be proud of, assuming you are a Brit of course.

Only because of a statistic, which is not a very accurate of measurement as Hamilton has had the advantage of driving a car with practically zero competition for 3 of the longest seasons, 4 if you count this one (which you should since tehy have a neat little qualifying trick which others don't).

So no, I don't think I should consider him as the best qualifier of all time, I think there are others just as good if not better.

Because it's a fact you cannot deny or ignore.

He's not even in the top 3 of fastest current drivers, let alone a ****ing GOAT.

Agreed. In my "hateful", and "insulting", opinion it was Senna; and I disliked Senna (his personality, that is...I can seperate that from one's ability) :)

You can bury your head in the sand as much as you want, the fact is that Hamilton has scored 69 pole positions in his career so far, and nobody has done that.

Stating that isn't an endorsement of his personality, but an acknowledgement of his achievement as a driver.

I just do not understand that insistence in some quarters to refuse to accept the facts.

You just can't seem to comprehend that his circumstances of getting more poles (lol) is dramatically different than others. More races in far better cars than the opposition. That helps a lot in statistics.

I've never said he's a bad driver, I just don't think he's nearly as good as his hangers on (or statistic quotes) say.

Agreed. Some people said it was the car when Schumacher was winning everything. I recall an interview he gave on TopGear when asked if it was the car and he said something along the lines of:

"You're absolutely right. It's what you and your mechanics do together with the car."

And, let's face it, nobody is going to be breaking all-time qualifying records without consistently being in a very competitive car. The broken records of the past were set by those who were good enough to be selected to drive in very competitive cars year after year.

69 poles is 69 poles however you look at it. Trying to diminish that with excuses about the car comes across like sour grapes.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
