The way he's currently interacting with Bottas speaks volumes...

Sad to see Schuey's record eclipsed at Monza of all places - Ferrari will do better in Singapore

MS fans never tired of quoting all his stats ad nauseam. Only now that some of these stats are coming under attack suddenly "stats don't mean a lot" anymore.

    Lol

And against Button LH was hardly the master of the garage. There is ALOT of qualification to records and the history of LH. He is a great F1 driver. He and others are quite similar in capability. Thats the point overall.

You can only debate with people in good faith.

Opinions and facts do not mix.

I preferred Rosberg to Hamilton (that's an opinion), but I have to accept that Lewis has achieved more than the German (based on facts).

I do not like Hamilton personality (opinion), but I have to recognise his 69 pole position put him as the all time top qualifier (based on facts).

There was some history between Hamilton and Rosberg going way back before they became team mates at Mercedes.

You could say that Hamilton has been Rosberg's adversary for most of his life.

Nico defeated him once and now moved on in his life to escape this obsessive rivalry.

Nico has exorcised his demon and is now on a completely different planet where there is no competition with the Brit.

I think he is happier. I miss him though; I liked his personality a lot.

Presumably (partially) aimed at me. I've always maintained he's the best but not going by stats, much more do I actually quote certain performances that shows he was by far the best.

Driving the greatest car (compared to other cars on the grid) is easy. If Palmer and Stroll where in the Mercedes since 2014 would we all react the same? Because the statistics say they're the winningest drivers?

In my youth, I was warned me about fans.

Fan is a shortcut for FANATIC, and fanaticism is dangerous.

A fanatic is "someone filled with excessive and mistaken enthusiasm", often at the expense of logic, I may add.

+1. We have often disagreed on the subject of personality differences between Rod and Ham, but as you say, facts are facts. Ham is completely mastering his Merc this year. His quali performances as Spa and Monza were both fantastic. His victory today was masterful.

Vettel did all he could today and safely brought home a podium. Good result for Ferrari.

Ricci clearly driver of the day. That RB has a phenomenal chassis. It ran so little aero yet was able to handle the twisters better than anything else and outbreak anything else. What a performance.

The obvious issue today was the ridiculous grid penalty situation that saw 9 cars starting in lower positions and resulted in Magnusson being eliminated in q3 yet starting in p9. Pathetic rules.

The season is building towards a tremendous climax in Abu Dhabi.

Well the statement above is probably the single best way to undermine your posion and credibility. To claim that the two worst drivers in the grid would dominate in the Merc is just factually naive. Refer to Bottas this year if you need more evidence.

Wheras you only discovered Stats since Lewis beat the ones of Michael who you did not like [emoji6]
With Schumacher one had to keep in mind against what drivers (no.2) he achieved them but when one mentions the superiority of the Mercedes (as demonstrated today) you ignore it and simply rely on the Stats themselves [emoji849]
But it actually does not matter as you admitted yourself that you just jumped the Hamilton-train to oppose the "hate"...

At the same time theirs no car which runs as good and dominant as the Mercedes does ones it get's into clean air.

Everytime a Mercedes driver doesn't get on the first row they struggle in the race.

Obviously power tracks like Monza and Spa are in favor of Mercedes.

    Wanted to add:
Statistics rarely tell the full story. It's an indication, that's for sure. Certainly Hamilton is no slouch, and only an idiot would call him that.

Things such as youngest WDC, Youngest pole sitter...are fairly meaningless. The path to F1 has always been difficult and different, it's very rare to get into F1 and immediately into a fast car...and that fast car has a lot to do with getting amazing statistics quickly.

For me, seeing how a driver does in a slow car is a lot more telling than what he can do in a fast car. In a fast car, different measures of judging have to be taken.

Schumacher has driven fast and slow cars, and was fast in both...when he eventually got to Ferrari and when that car was sorted out and became (at the time) the best ever car, for 2 seasons all he had to really do was beat his teammate. Now we can debate whether this was written in the contracts or not, that became irrelevant because Schumacher rarely needed Barrichello, or Irvine, or Massa, Or Brunde, or Herbert...or or or, to move over for him. When this was done on the rare occasion, it was usually because Schumacher had some ailment at some point during the race/weekend and just had to be let by without a fight. Schumacher was 99% of the time so much faster than his teammates, the little stipulation in the contract made little difference. Barrichello was no slouch by any means. His time in slower cars is all the convincing I need. Irvine similarly was fast. Verstappen (ok a rookie at the time so shouldn't really count), Herbert was still mighty even with ruined legs. Brundle was also quick but never near Schumacher.

Hamilton is a bit of a weird case as he never had a slow car. So taking the "Ferrari years Schumacher (particularly 2002 and 2004)" measuring stick, he really should've won a lot more than he did. He never dominated Button like he should've done. Barrichello was both Schumachers teammate and Jensons, both for a decent period time...Jenson vs Rubens was pretty damn equal (not looking at wiki statistics either). I can go on and on but I'll just keep repeating myself ad infinitum. My opinion remains that Hamilton, whilst he's a good driver and his abilities are certainly top 5 of the field, he's not a great.

I truly struggle to name absolute stand out performances of his, not because I don't like him, but because they are few and far between. Schumacher I can name 20 on the spot. Alonso I can name plenty (and everyone here knows how much I disliked him!), Vettel I can name a few, Verstappen, even his career very young still, can name more than Hamilton whose career is much longer.

Hamilton is a quick driver that finds himself in the very best car last 4 seasons. Had he found himself having Ricciardo as a teammate all that time we would forget who he was.

You can count me there as well.

There is nothing that spurs me more than unfair attacks against an individual because he is perceived by some as a rival to their chosen hero.

I tend to side with the underdog and not follow the crowd.

Bottas had no problems driving in dirty air and overtaking. The Merc today was a league of his own and Lewis won after coming out of turn 1 in front....even if Bottas would have had the Speed he would have not been allowed to attack...so none of the other 19 cars challenged Lewis.

Todays race was won with a Great Qualy (One have to give hin credit for that) but the Race itself was not a Great achievement [emoji6]

I fully stand by my statement that Stroll and Palmer would've won 95% of the races of Rosberg/Hamilton between 2014 and 2016.

Do you mean if only MERCEDES didn't outpace the Ferraris ?
LH has a hard time grasping this concept as well.
