What you think? Interesting or not?
Is it really a prototype? For me this would be one of the develop and test cars...
    Does it have an engine?

Car is not (?) in the Catalouge, only online in the Lot list, see 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari Prototype | Ferrari ? Leggenda e Passione 2017 | RM Sotheby's

Meanwhile, this 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari Prototype (Estimate: €1.100.000 – €1.300.000) may be a familiar sight to those who have already purchased a LaFerrari. This car was the very first LaFerrari most customers laid eyes on as it was used by Ferrari during the private preview for the model in 2013 and kept in the factory Atelier throughout 2013 as reference for clients configuring their own new LaFerraris. This is a remarkable opportunity to purchase an exceptionally interesting and significant LaFerrari Prototype directly from the Factory.

I see Ferrari says it is not road legal and should be used for static display only, but does it actually run and drive? Does it have the hybrid system? At that price estimate, I'm guessing not. Otherwise, I think it will go for the same if not more than a regular one...this seems more special than the standard car.

I'm posting this for future reference:

Well if I had to guess, I'd say it does have an engine and runs/drives. That's based on this line:

To me it's implying that it does drive, but they recommend keeping it for static only. I don't read it as they recommend keeping it static and not installing a drivetrain in order to make it drive, but I suppose it could be like that...

Asked my friend, car has an engine, he was there and saw it. Every LF owner saw the car.

Ferrari always sai with Prototyps "not street legal".

Highly interesting car, Estimate is a joke...

Given the car, the location/environment , the occasion, as well who will be attending, I actually think it will go for the estimate or more.

Ferrari disabled the 348 Enzo Prototype when they sold it, in order to prevent it being used, the new owner however managed to source all the parts to get it road legal again.

I imagine with this car, the numerous ecu boxes etc would be far more difficult to source if Ferrari does the same .

People with this kind of cash dont have to choose between this and an F40. They buy them all.

    True.

A lot of the LaFerraris for sale right now in the US have less than 400 miles or so. They are effectively static models...this LaF coming up for auction probably is a better alternative for a lot of LaF owners. :(

The car was seen during the 2013 Tour Auto event and also used for the Raupp Calendar shoot. I'm sure it can still drive.

Assuming Ferrari hasn't removed components to render it immobilized - "...for static display only."

who will service it without the support of Ferrari?
no warranty on the kers system or batteries?
can't be road registered so has to be used as a track car only?
    for 1m+
    no thanks

They haven't posted results yet online unfortunately...hopefully soon they will if no one here was present to let us know. http://www.rmsothebys.com/results/

I'm curious how much it sold for and if the repaint affected its value. I think it looks better in that blue than the flat silver.

Heard during the stream the buyer had to sign an agreement with Ferrari following Ferrari's recommendation that the car remain static display only. Hammered at 1,888,000 Euros on the stream.

I wonder if they will provide a "static" ignition key with the car lol.
