Massa is history at Williams after this year, so this debate means nothing. Back to Kubica . . . . it would be GREAT to see him back.
I do agree that Stroll needs time. It was very premature of their staff to start F1 in 2017, but as time goes by he should and will improve...
And the exact same thing was said about Massa's first year where he spun off many times and was even banned for one race. His rookie mistakes sent him back to test driver status. Oddly enough he never let go of his habit of occasionally spinning out all on his own. Especially in the wet
Apparently you didn't get my reference, that's ok. No, I'm fine with Brazilian drivers. For the most part I don't care much about what country a driver comes from (except for my chauvinistic bias towards the Swiss).
Yah well they said that LAST year also... Kubica should take Stroll's chair but that ain't gonna happen.
They should both go. Williams is a sad shadow of the top tier team it once was. They aren't even attempting to be top tier anymore which is a real shame. All the teams ambitions have been toned down to settle for being in the mid field and this is reflected in their weak driver line up consisting of a retired mid pack racer and a newbie pay driver. Not good.
After Kubica has been testing for Renault to see if he's still fast enough he can now expect to test again for team Stroll to make sure he's not TOO fast.
The jury is still out on Kubica, does he have the stamina and dexterity of be competitive at every venue? I'm not so sure.
If as posted in another thread, Renault engines got to McLaren and Carlos Sainz goes to Renault and Honda engines got to Toro Rosso, then Kubica could also go to TR and replace Sainz as a low profile/stress reentry to F1...with a Renault option to take him if he proves better than Hulkenberg.
Toro Rosso always hires wunderkinder from Red Bull´s programme, not "has-beens-that-can-be-again-but-it´s-a-long-shot" like Kubica.
Remember that Kyviat was a GP3 champion in his first year while Sainz was just 10th. There were many wunderkinders such as Alguesuari, Vergne, etc...
