I have a 2002 Murcielago with 22k miles. Clutch is on the way out. Anyone have suggestions on who to get a replacement clutch from? Someone recommended Hitech Exotic for a Kevlar version which lasts longer than the OEM. As I found out a while ago, it's an engine out job requiring 40 or more hours of labor. Any other suggestions for suppliers or anyone with personal experience in this endeavour?
Can you tell me why? Is it less grabby than a Kevlar aftermarket unit? It seems to me that the OEM clutch life span is too short. I know a Ferrari 360 with F1 chews up clutches but that is understandable.
I had a multi plate carbon clutch on a 2003 Murci and it chattered, had difficult engagement (manual) and a short life. Stock has the easiest engagement, I've consistently gotten 20k miles out of stock units, my current LP640 has 612 wheel horsepower and I have dozens of hard launches on the clutch with no clutch issues, so the stock unit has my vote. The stock units re-covered with carbon are likely great units, but with the ease of stock I'm fine sticking to it.
Thanks for that. Is there a significant cost difference OEM vs aftermarket? My car is more of a street driver. The clutch on my track car gives the chatter, if I need it.
