I agree with those who have stated the right side is pointless and takes way too much space, each post - even the short ones - consume too much space, and despite what Dave M (dm n stuff) says, even if the content has stayed the same, the layout is too busy and detracts from the overall presentation. This makes me wonder what was the driving force behind the change. Were large numbers of people complaining about the layout and appearance before? If so, I can't believe that they enjoy the new version. Changes only for sake of change? To say that "if you give it some time, you'll get to be ok with it" isn't much of an endorsement.

And finally, the "classic view" really isn't the "classic view."

While it took me a little while to get used to it (and I had a head-start with early testing), I think the upgrade is a good thing. Folks' perception of it will improve given more time with it.

It's certainly feeling like an improved home to mewhen using the FerrariChat Old skin on the desktop. I've got the Unread Watched Threads page bookmarked as my old UserCP, the New Posts bookmarked as before, and I'm enjoying the new option to have RSS feeds for the forums I most like to peruse. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Still cannot figure out how to pm a member. Please advise.

By the way, this is only a poll, or does it really make a difference how we feel as an end result?

and, is it what the owners of the site decide?

After all, the voting turnout is miserly, yet 63% still do not like the "new format". 17%, are indifferent, and 19% like it. This with 222 votes in, out of how many members?

    Clearly, in a democracy...

Thank you for your kind reply.

    Regards, Alberto

One more suggested change for the "Old Style": on the main page, the gray column towards the right where each entry starts with "Latest" should be widened by about 50% so that the thread titles listed are not all cut off. The page is certainly wide enough that this should not create any other problems.

One thing I do like is that the actual sponsor logos of individual forums are shown in gray towards the right side. This looks quite classy and might be an incentive for other firms to sponsor other forums.

You might want to point out that this is after you select "Inbox", at least that's the way it is on the "Old Style".

Not happy about my avatar. Like the old format. The new format with the old format option would be good if the old format option was identical to the old format. It is not. Sigh !

added to list. thanks for the feedback
this bug has been noted and screenshots sent to developers
Probably just a permissions issue, will add it to list
unaware of this button, can you send screenshot or explain further?
Probably another permissions issue, are you still having this problem?

Maybe its a quesiton of reformatting the avatar?

Is this a mockup or is there a way to do this? I agree a darker background would likely improve the theme.

Thanks Ryan. I used to be the master of doing things like this, once upon a time I re-skinned the entire MacOS- back in the OS7 days... But these days, I just don't have the time to goof around, I just use Safari.. I'd love to see a theme that used a grey/darker background like your mock up. Kind of like how Adobe does in their apps. But as is, its good. I like how the new site can generate windows. But it is a little laggy in the text editor window.

I will say I like that you can have an avatar without being subscribed. I missed having my avatar when I stopped renewing my subscription.

    Alberto,

Top right of the screen, next to your user ID, is a dropdown "inbox", click that, and you get "conversations"

At the bottom of that is "Start a new conversation" That's a new fangled name for PM..

    FIVE minutes!
OK the new old Fchat section now you only get 5 minutes to edit a post? It seemed much longer a day or to ago and in on the old system it was over 30 minutes? Not progress or an improvement to get shorted on the time...

it was unlimited a day ago. ;) 5 minutes is good, by then several have read it and plenty of time for you to correct any quick mistakes. beyond that you get into integrity issues, don't want post to change after followup replies. posts aren't supposed to be a perfect edited professionally published work, if major changes, just do a reply quote and repost what you want.

I obviously got too comfortable with no time limit! Maybe 10 minutes would be a good compromise to check a figure or correct a typping errror! They are not hanging on my every word.
When you log on and then go away from the desk how many minutes before you have to log in again on Fchat when you don't click the 'stay logged in' box. Thank you.
