I have a few observations as a user, albeit a special user, but still a user (I have no involvement in designing or implementing the new platform):

    - The vBulletin platform hasn't been supported for 10 years and anyone who actually paid attention knew that a platform switch had to happen at some point. Users who charged that it was done to raise the ad display space or just to be trendy really have no idea what they were saying as the ad space could have been easily increased without a platform change and the time, headaches and cost of the platform conversion could by no means be based on a whim.

    - Rob first tried out the XenForo platform by implementing a whole new website MotorInteractive.com. All Fchat users were invited to go there to join, try it out, and provide feedback on its usability and features. There were 570 signups and, over several months of use, nothing like some of the negative comments raised in this thread.

    - Rob then ported the Fchat database to the XenForo platform and some selected users, such as the mods, got a chance to look at it about a month ago. A couple of weeks ago, an invitation was made to subscribed users to contact Rob and go take a look if they were interested. Again, there were some comments or issues, but nothing like what some are posting here.

    - Once the new Fchat rolled out, it quickly became apparent that there were a lot of fine details that weren't to some users liking. As when moving to a new home, there's always a "punch list" of items that require attention to finish up properly. The feedback resulted in a long list of things requiring resolution.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/running-bug-list.560062/

So far there are 26 closed items, 16 items queued for additional development projects, and 13 items still being investigated for the best resolution. Each of those resulted from a user making a specific comment about how things could be improved, not a general complaint that "this sucks".

My personal observation is that a lot of items, such as ads, have in fact been fixed days ago and any ongoing complaints are stale and no longer relevant. A lot of other items arise from Rob's accommodation of niche interests in the old platform, things such as city-specific tags for the regions. These things got added in over years and don't have anything to do with the general user population, but do make the accommodated group feel left out. I'm pretty sure Rob will get around to restoring those as soon as other functionality requests are addressed. Read the list to get a snapshot of actual progress and maybe cut Rob and Jack some slack if you consider what has actually been done in just a few days and what they're committing will be done.

    - Users might also consider, despite their desire to make the new home look and feel exactly like the old one, that the new platform may offer a different way of doing things that is actually better, not just different for the sake of being different.

This thread offers tips and techniques for how to do things in the new platform:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/new-f-chat-q-a-section.560029

    - Finally, this isn't even the right place for these complaints, comments or requests. They really should be posted to this thread in Ferrari Discussion:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrarichat-com-update-questions.559196

Posting in multiple other places, such as here in 458/488, only increases the chance that the complaints, comments, or requests will get overlooked. Post in the official thread if you actually want to get your issues addressed. Rob has been spending time here as a courtesy to users, even though they are posting in the wrong place. If you spend time in the correct threads in Ferrari Discussion, you'll see that Rob and Jack have not been sitting on their butts and telling users to "take it or leave", they've been working their butts off to listen to users and get things resolved.

Playing around with the new format, I gotta say it's pretty damn good. However, it's just too damn bright! I could light my house with it!

Is there any way to switch the color format? Maybe to a grey, just somthing less hard on the eyeballs? Other then that I like the new features etc..it just needs to be turned down a bit..

No, there's simply no way to do it.

Unless you scroll to the bottom and choose Old.

I do not understand what this means "single 728 by 90". ???
I am NOT a computer man and NOT in the computer business. I do not understand such expressions.
Please understand that many users have no such knowledge. They may have totally different skills and are from a totally other business in another corner of this planet. And I haven't even mentioned the language problems. I speak/understand four languages and as you know from the past discussions years ago, English/American is not my mother language. Do you speak German? Think about this very carefully and take it into consideration as well, please. Thank you.
Oh btw, as I write this, there is a full width advert from Ricambi America right now on my upper part of the screen (full width of screen I mean).
I just measured it and it is 28 centimeters long, my screen width is 50 centimeters. This means that this ad is more than half the width of the entire screen.
Is this what you are talking about?

    I like the new design!!!

However we used to be able to see if there were attachments/pics in a thread with the "paperclip" i really miss that and if you were logged in you used to be able to scroll through all posts with the pics already opened. Now you sometimes (why sometimes??) have to open them all separately and they pop up in a different tab which you then have to close, open the next etc. HIGHLY inconvenient......

yes, users have reported that and Jack has campaigned for it. my thought was don't most threads have an image or attachment, I'm just not sure the added value of it although we had it before.

that is the banner that I was talking about and Marcel you use to see two of those prior site. one top left and one top center like now, so you are now seeing half the ads that you were seeing before. why the complaint then?

    Hi Marcel.

I feel your pain. At 62, almost 63, sometimes the tech talk befuddles me. But this one I can help with. Screen resolution is measured in pixels. Yours would most likely be around 1440 pixels wide, and 900 pixels high. Given that, a 728 pixel x 90 pixel image would occupy just a bit more than half the width of your screen. (using your measurements I get 1300 pixels wide, but not sure that's a true resolution setting, or if computer nerds who make these screens lie a lot.)

So yes, that's what Rob is talking about.

And IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS as we work them out here, send me a PM, errrr, start a conversation with me and I'll do what I can to make it easier on you.

THAT GOES FOR THE REST OF THE FOLKS HERE TOO. If you have a question, and want an answer, shoot it over to me and I'll see if I can help you out.

    Dave

Interesting side note, the singular "*******" is bleeped by the filter. The plural, "*******s" is not.

Just thought that might be helpful for some of the *******s here. :D

The "new" old version is not like the "old" old version. I don't like it either. Maybe a way to get back to the "old" old version soon?

    Couple of options:

    1) Click the user's avatar and you will see "Start Conversation"

    2) Look at the upper menu, to the right and you will see "Inbox" Click it and go to "conversations"

BTW, as much as I prefer the name "PM" over "Conversations" the functions of conversations is WAYYYYYYYY better than PM - It's all a nice thread - easy to ready vs the tree of quoted replies. So, I think I'm now up to 2-3 positives of the new software :D

And you can say Hellcat but not hell ... oh, wait, you CAN say hell now!

I have yet to see this mentioned but have not gone through all kazillion posts, but I remember the brouhaha when it was changed so the cookies no longer remembered your last visit and even old posts you never looked at show up as bold unless you took the extra step of clicking to mark all forums read at the end of each visit. I take it this is not an option with the new interface?

we stopped after the 20th email. Out of your 20 emails you could have figured out 15 by spending 10 minutes just quickly looking around the new site, 3 of them we had already explained in this thread/bugs list, and 2 were documented bugs in the list already. All the time you waste with us is time we're not fixing the documented bugs helping users that are more patient than a New York minute.

    Not exactly true.
I spent several hours and was not able to "figure out 15 by quickly looking around the new site".
Feel free to consider me a total and complete idiot and huge xxxhole and troll and whatever but I wouldn't have asked if I had found the answers. Nothing to do with a NY minute.
Oh well, clearly you don't want to listen to my honest questions.
Perhaps somebody else is willing to answer my questions.
My email is well known. I am sure I can not write it here without my name being altered by the new system.

    censor system is known problem.

I did reach out to Wayne yesterday to work with you. He's busy with his new career stuff, but I think it is better for the both of us if you work through him. You have found the bug/fix list in this forum and reviewed it? We are working things quick as we can.
