So let´s see what we learned from the "grown ups".... 1) Team favosism a) When a British driver (Hamilton) is driving for a British Team (McLaren) and a British Team Boss (who is by chance his mentor) there certainly is no favorism over a Spaniard that costs them 100 M$ and left at the end of the season b) When a German driver (Rosberg) is winning a WDC in a car of a German Manufacturer (Mercedes) it has to be favosism as Mercedes is selling more cars with Rosberg....It does not matter that the team bosses are Austrian (which is not the same as German for all not so firm in history) and the team is actually based in Britain and most of the team members are British 2) Staged WDC a) When Lewis is driving into the gravel in China and selects the wrong engine mode in the last race it has to be a staged WDC by the FIA with the help of McLaren who let him out on old tyres b) When Massa looses the WDC because he is screwed over by bis team at the pit stop in a rigged race this is simply fate and no conspiracy is allowed 3) Marketability a) Lewis Hamilton and his Twitter/Instagram/Facebook account is the best ever happened to F1 and Mercedes in particular as Mercedes is selling cars like cupcakes to young urban trendsetters due to that b) see 1b 4) Driving in the rain a) Lewis is by far the best driver in the rain, if he is driving in front or is getting pole it has nothing to do with the car or the setup, it is purely the abilities of Lewis b) In Brazil 2008, when every single position counted Lewis was overtaken by the rookie Vettel in a Toro Rosso. Other explanations than the Toro Rosso has to be the better car are not possible because it can´t be that Vettel is anywere near Lewis in the rain 5) Start-Finish victories a) When Lewis wins pole in the Mercedes it is certainly only his abilities to be the fastest guy over a single lap. If he wins the race starting from the front it was a masterful drive that can only be made by Lewis b) When Vettel wins a dozen times from pole it is actually only a sign of a superior car 6) Engine modes a) Rosberg selecting the wrong engine mode is clearly a sign that he is nowere near Lewis in race abilities b) if Lewis selects the wrong engine mode that actually helped him defending against Vetel at the restart in Spa it is not because he simply made a mistake, no it was a brilliant maneuver that could be only pulled by a mastermind like Lewis 7) Tyre strategy a) Lewis is telling his team that his tyres are crap and that he fears he will loose the race and so his team calls him in resulting in the loss of the race -> the driver is only giving feedback, the team should know better from the pitwall and decide -> their fault b) The next race Lewis comes in for new tyres and has a lot of luck with safety car/weather -> it is only due to Lewis making the call that he won. Like the brilliant driver he is he certainly knows better what is going on than his team 8) Adapting driving style a) When Vettel entered in a complete new era of cars that obviously did not suit his driving style his lack of performance was named a lack of adaption to the different driving style needed. It is a clear sign that he is not a GOAT like Lewis is b) When Lewis is beaten by his team mate Bottas as soon as the Mercedes is not the fastest car on track one have to keep in mind that the long wheelbase of the Mercedes does not suit Lewis and so it is only clear that he has problems on these tracks with such a car. 9) Tyre tests a) Vettel testing tyres is completely overrated because Lewis is such a talent, he does not need that b) Lewis testing tyres now just shows how clever he is already preparing for 2018 10) Team Mates (my absolute favorite) a) Lewis has achieved a lot more than all other drivers together keeping in mind against who he drove. His 3 WDC were won against the titan Kovallainen and the mighty Vanilla driver Rosberg. But winning against Rosberg is so much more than winning against Weber, Barichello or Massa because Rosberg is a WDC!!! It does not even matter that this WDC was won by beating Lewis b) Instead of beating "Journeyman" Weber 4:0 in WDC Seb should have donated one WDC to Weber because winning 3:1 against a WDC is so much more than 4:0 against a nobody I guess I have forgotten a few ones but I hope you excuse...it is hard to keep up with the logic of adults when you are only three years old
Your making too much sense Peter, stop it! I also love how Elton lovers hate Massa (i guess it must be because he gave the title to Kimi in Brazil)..or probably because he whiped the floor with miss congeniality next year...but we all know Massa sucks big time, however, he bested Elton in a similar competitive car, won more races, had a lot more laps in the lead, had a year with 2 broken engines, 2 botched pit stops, and a coupel more mistakes by the pits, and had to fight agains the current world champion inside his own team...instead, the goat had a clear number 2, had no issues true the whole season and was able to score points in a rigged race...but of course, he was so much more deserving champion than Felipe!!
Nice work Pete, however of late, I haven't read anyone making comparisons with Vettel and Hamilton, both are excellent drivers and their stats back it up. However I wouldn't worry, I highly doubt the post was aimed at you anyway, just the mind numbing suck post's with no substance to back it up.
Well...Lewis is lately often praised for things Seb did in the past like start-finish victories and the tyre testing. Obviously they are compared a lot, just watch how a few Hamilton-Supporters went berserk after the Baku-incident...
Well of course they are going to be compared, they are normally at the pointy end of the grid being the main contenders, The Baku incident for me was simply a red mist moment. Imagine the noise made on here, if it had been the other way round ...wow
I guess the discussion would have been exactly the same, just with reversed roles... The Hamilton fans would have insisted that Seb brake-tested him and the Lewis-"haters" would have called him psycho...No question. This is the reason why the Lewis-supporters should not think they are anywere better than the ones they call three-year-old
That's a subjective view, a objective view is reading the contents of posts ..and my conclusion : it's not worth wasting the bandwidth on a reply
Ah, I expect nothing but the truth then. I mean if Elton is writing it it has to be the most honest thing ever, I'm sure!
Excellent post Peter, as usual, you make too much sense for Elton's fans to argue, so they start trying to distance themselves from comments so that they don't have to eat humble pie..... Typical of em, and I just want to say....... elton sucks
You made that argument in the past. I'm a big Seb fan (probably was before many on this forum while he was still driving for TR and RB). And yes you are right, Seb did these things before. I also agree/state that Seb is one of the smartest guys on the current grid and Lewis likely less so (BTW: Nicole is also super brainy, no question). So when Lewis emulates/copies some of the right moves from Seb I applaud him. Of course I also applaud Seb for it, particularly even more so for having it done first. That said, it doesn't take away anything from Lewis' doing the smart/right thing. Seb didn't invent "smart moves"; there were many other intelligent drivers before him, guys like Prost and Lauda. And finally: While I like a smart driver, I'm not watching F1 to see who has the highest IQ. Otherwise I'd be following chess (I guess). Raw talent and speed is what ticks my boxes. Nice when it pairs with brains but not a requirement.
My point: when you say that he finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel and becomes aware that he can not run away from all testing then all is good and he finally has the work ethos one might expect from someone who wants to win. But he is not clever for doing so after he saw that it helped others, he only is not complete dump for not doing so anymore That is a difference... And I did not say that Vettel invented this but for some reason the guys praising Lewis for doing so never did in the past with Vettel...Why?
why should Vettel get praised when most people know he is inferior to any decent driver like Ricciardo and di Resta who beat him in same machinery? Now he is hiding behind Kimi's petticoats so embarassing.
