Just returned from the 4 day Rally to Maranello with 500 Ferraris from Europe for the 70th anniversary celebrations . There were many F12s, TdFs and a few 812s on the rally in different colours - so had good opportunities to compare the cars and sit in the display model at Fiorano. Each model has it's own unique beauty.

The 812 is VERY muscular in the flesh and the rear is much nicer in real life than some of the pics. Colour choice is key - the Grigio Titanio is beautiful. I didn't see the Opaco colour - but I suspect that would look great too. I don't believe the car really needs the carbon exterior trim - the black trim looks very nice. Interior is superb - but can be a bit fussy depending on how it's spec'd.

    Apologies - don't have pics.

Take a look at this. This 812 at the danish dealer has got the same problem. Diffuser looks really off...

I agree. Each model has its own beauty and technical atributes.

Since the beginning I liked very much the 812 - even more the back than the front, which maybe puts me in a minority.

Seeing it now in the road and not only in computer renders - which most of the time didn't do it any justice (or to any other model), has confirmed in my eyes that in my opinion it will be one of the greats.

    ...I'm anxious to try it:

That blue (maybe TDF blue?) is gorgeous. And sounds TDF'ish.

Funny how the 812's side profile seems inspired by the TRS. Makes sense, getting inspired by some of the best.

Change as we know with new model launches causes all sorts of reactions. Have to say, the old version seemed to work fine for what we used it for.

I agree, I can adapt to this new one and there are positives, but I thought the old one was working just fine.

If you prefer the old format, you can still configure you chat room to look just like the old one. Scroll to the bottom of the page. In the bottom right hand corner you will see a box that has the words "FerrariChat - New" in it. Click that box. It gives you a menu to chose the format of the chat room you prefer.

Embrace the new I say. We all get too comfortable with the old.

The problem with the old style skin is the formatting- at least on my screens- the right side is occupied with the user info and other things I don't want to see. One of the things I don't like about the new format is seeing the date and time of posting isn't as easy. I now know where to look, but I think it should not be grey, I do like how it says NEW over on the right. I think maybe change the date and time of post to black and make it red if its new. Also maybe relocate the Poster's join date info (I don't mind seeing it) further away from the date of the post. Its easy to confuse the two.

I am currently doing the Pilota Advanced course with several 812s - all are Blue TDF or Grigio Silverstone. Some with and without the exterior CF. I am glad I did not option the exterior CF parts - the standard finish looks good enough for me, as the CF parts do not really do much to improve the overall exterior look. 812 on track is a noticeable improvement on F12 in terms of body control and turn in - could not really notice any difference in power on this track as the F12 does not lack in that department anyway. Compared to my TDF, 812 is far more refined but definitely feels heavier, less agile and while the exhaust note has that fantastic V12 sound, the TDF exhaust note in upper rev range is on another level. Instructors here I surveyed all agree that 812 and TDF are chalk and cheese when it comes to track work. Having said that, 812 ticks all the right GT boxes for me and I am looking even more forward to receiving mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Fantastic feedback, thank you carlom001! Any thoughts on the switch to the electric steering? Can you tell us a little bit about the Corso Pilota Advanced? Have fun!

Thanks for the reminder that there is now electric steering........to me feels very natural, and typically Ferrari light and very direct so no complaints as I am used to this. As usual Ferrari's courses are professionally run, and I have to admire and commend all the instructors' commitment and intent to improve everyone's skill level, from the instructors in the cars through to the other instructors providing detailed telemetry feedback after each run. Yes very expensive but worth every penny when this is experienced, and also when you see how much punishment these cars take. Looking forward to the 488 Challenge cars tomorrow.

488 Challenge cars would seem to be just as exciting while having four fewer cylinders and much less weight.
Hopefully when you get a spare moment you can share some feedback. It sounds like a truly special experience at Ferrari savoring all those Italian delights!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I loved the basic program I did many years ago. Ferrari always runs a great program. Very impressive! Thanks!

I think that F12tdf must be super special. I have not yet driven one (hint, hint friends... hehe) I can try and imagine the differences.

Is that Vairano de Melegari? Wonder why the course isn't at Fiorano - they used to only do the Challenge Course there?

Switching to Challenge cars is a mind-bender! the braking is insane because of the slicks. The courses are great - I highly recommend them. Great people, great instructors and superb driving.

Yes the Advanced course is held at Varano and in the last session we got a couple of stints in the 488 Challenge cars. Next level Evolution course using just the 488 Challenge cars is at Fiorano. The Challenge cars are amazing as expected given they are race cars and puts the 'regular' 488 GTBs, great as they are, into some perspective. Also had the pleasure to meet fellow FChatter JagShergill on the course. That was an added bonus!
