Thanks for your comments. It's really a year 2000 Harley Sportster 1200 Custom. Through various unusual circumstances I ended up with the Harley frame and documents so I sourced all the parts and had it assembled at my local Harley dealership here in Lucca, Italy.

My wife has a Sportster with all the chrome and forward controls so I wanted something different. I really wanted a Vincent Black Shadow or something of that style so I had this built loosely in the style of a British bike from the 1950s.

The difficult part was trying to keep the line low, unlike a Sportster which is raised at the front end. The other difficult part was convincing the Harley technicians of what I was trying to do. They thought I was crazy and really didn't 'get it' until very late in the build :)

I have the version for old men....a S1000XR and love it. I can't imagine what 200hp would be like on that frame....

A lot more than my work schedule allows for. At this rate, I might get three more days of riding before winter.

Incredible looking bike. If you need someone to house and exercise the bike during your long, cold, unrelenting winters, I volunteer to jump on that grenade. Yes, I'm very selfless. You're welcome.

    :D

Mark, you're truly a selfless bloke. I appreciate your willingness to help me in my time of need. :)

In all honesty, I'll get to use it throughout the winter as long as there's no snow or moisture on the road. We have mostly dry winters here in Denver and they don't salt the roads. I can't take it to the mountains and canyons, though. :(

    :)

I rode as long as I could in WI. With good, warm gear, for the most part, I was really only hampered by moisture and salt. Of course, there would have been days far too cold to ride, but there really weren't THAT many. I still rode well below freezing temps when I could.

Thanks Kevin, there is a nice story behind it as I created this very own bike myself 20 yrs ago when I was working for the Dutch Ducati importer. A friend of mine made the following blog; Ducati 900 Super Sport Imola - Republic Moto Rotterdam

    Good luck with yr Supersport!
