    If that's what it's really about that could be dealt with without changing the definition of marriage.

    Of course it's not acceptable for a gay partner to be treated differently to a heterosexual partner in that situation.
    It's hard to believe anyone would be against making sure that can't happen.

    Are you sure mate? I was under the impression that things like superannuation (going to partner in case of death) and income splitting with partner (wife) wasn't available to gay couples? I'm probably wrong, as I haven't felt the need to research the subject much. I decided bottom sex wasn't for me a long time ago.

    Actually the more important part is one step before - being able to make medical decisions on behalf of the partner who's incapacitated. This caused huge grief to many during the aids epidemic when hostile parents cut people off from their loved ones. It's such a shame some one the yes side are going extreme and alienating people. Idiots everywhere...
