A while back, I purchased OEM fenders (badge style) and OEM fender badges. I was cleaning up the garage tonight and thought that I'd try fitting the badges on the fenders. When I put the RH/LH (Dx/Sx) specified badge on each respective side for the first time, they didn't fit! It turns out that the badges fit nearly perfectly if you swap sides (Dx on left and Sx on right)!

I have two pairs of OEM badges and tried the other set... and the exact same thing! Third pic is with the badges on the designated correct side (hard to see, but they stick out and don't fit flush). Fourth pic is with the badges on the opposite sides, where they fit nicely. Weird!

Has anyone else with OEM fenders... who's had to replace or fit new ones... find that the designated badge part numbers appear reversed???

Looks nice. Wish I had bought a set of the fenders.

Or the holes in the recesses of your fenders were punched the wrong way around. Were the fenders on a special offer?

I'm surprised it's not one part number for both sides - no idea why they would make the shields handed...

The issue is with the curvature of the shields not matching the curvature of the recesses in the fenders. The fenders were purchased through two different suppliers... one in Europe and one in the US. Right hand side fender was really tough to find.

From the fender pictures, it appears that the bottom holes are offset forwards to the vertical line through the bottom tip of the recess (is this the case?) and that this is what determines left and right badges. The bottom studs on the badges should be offset accordingly but, in you case, it seems to be the other way round (the holes or the badge studs).

Can anyone tell me, with 100% confidence, that if the studs on the back of the OEM F355 shields are removed, that they will fit the curvature of the 355 without the recess? i bought a damaged 599 oem shield, removed the studs and tried test fitting it to my 355 and the curvature on the body was too much for the shield to fit.

Just curious what made you think the 599 shields would work in the first place? Every model has different curvatures on their fenders and badges with different part numbers to match that curvature. It doesn’t make sense to even think it would be the same.

It appears we both have unobtanium 355 recessed fenders :).

Good job on discovering the mix-up by Ferrari on the part # for shields. I’m going to assume I should be on the hunt for a passenger side shield since 64174200 is really for the driver’s side?
