I think the adapted slat grille is more in keeping with the design language of the 348, as are the older crisper-edged tail lamps, versus the softer-edged F355 style.

I agree. It would be a lot easier and cheaper to go with the slat design.

The only thing I would need to do then is shave a little off the backside of the slats on the ends to make the yellow lights tuck inside nicely. The red lights already have plenty of room.

Do you already have an idea what you are going to do with the two rectangle cutouts that were covered by the OEM rear light?
Are you just going to put the same mesh behind it that ist behind the two center cutouts?
Would definitely stick to the OEM rear grill in the way you photoshopped it, looks brilliant!
If you ever consider selling this spec as a set, count me in :-D

    Update:

I cleaned up the cutouts, prepped the area and painted it satin black. I also made the screen that will go behind the openings.

On the original grill, I removed the last vertical slat because I didn't like the look of the vertical slat over the new lights. I will fill in the old slat channel voids with new aluminum and clean up the welds.

Then I will then shave down the second and third horizontal slats to fit the new lights. It only needs a little bit in the inside corners to make them fit over the new round lights.

HELP!!! ... Which wire go with which wire?

Okay, I'm not an electrician, so I need your help with this! Here are the wire diagrams for the original 348 light and the new 308 style lights.

The other photo shows the 308 style RED light lens with the white wire going to nowhere.? I don't understand why there's a white/blk wire going to a bulb socket that's backwards.

    Please help! Thanks.

I don't own a 308 so can't say for certain, but I would have thought the "reverse" bulb on the rear light assembly is to illuminate the rear trunk just behind the engine.

TBH, I'd say your best bet is to ask on the 308/328 section about the 308 wiring.

    Edited to add:

    Yep - 328 trunk lights: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/my-328-has-trunk-lights-wow-hi-tech.447752/

(Reading that thread, not many owners realised they had them! :) )

Very cool I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'm in a fabrication mood lately that needs an itching.
Defiantly leave the stock grill makes it look like it should

Thanks for link, but my 348 to 308 lighting is a bit different.

Someone on this site must be able to help with my wiring diagram?

    UPDATE:

Getting closer! I really like the look of the stock grill...

Could the 308 white/black wire be for the euro fog light? I think the US 348 is wired for euro fog, but not utilized.

Could the answer be to ask on the 308/328 section?

If you want to be different, I pretty much the look without the grille with your 308 lights. But it looks unfinished (too brutal for a Ferrari :) ), so if a sheet could be made to have concave shape (i.e. be closer to the bare sheet metal) and thus change the looks dramatically. You won't look like a 355 wannabe.
Just some thought if you want to spend some more time, haha. And you'd be able to save the stock grille.

I like the Challenge Grille as well, seems the stock grille is "later period" and the 308 look the previous generation. Very tasteful and reversible mod that looks complimentary and pleasing.
