Yes, same owner I sold it to, delivered directly to us from Ferrari SpA's Museo where it was displayed for a while after it's Classiche service in Maranello.

He has an incredible Ferrari Vintage & Supercar collection with all the Ferrari Supercar series cars to date, and I suspect that the GTO Enzo bestowed upon Lauda is the last one he would ever sell.

Joe thank you for confirming those details. As you noted before; it is right up there as a special car within the 288 GTO builds!

Not delivered as a brand new GTO to Lauda till the spring of 1986, well after general production of the GTO had ceased.

In 1985 Niki had a PR job for Fiat and that included some races in the Fiat Uno Turbo serie
and Niki didn't want a salary because he wasn't bothered about money anyway so they
thought about a testarossa as a gift and Niki pushed that idea up to a GTO :D
and so they build him the No. 271 and it was built after the end of the serie,
so he pick it up in 1986.

There is a nice write up in Jürgen Lewandowskis 288 GTO book.

Thank you Christian for this advice. You have provided the perfect excuse to dig out Jürgen's GTO book yet again!

Ex-Brunei car. Note the RHD configuration. That car now has a red stripe running across the sideline...like a reverse GTO paintjob. I happen to like it in black..

I like it in black as well.

That said, another non-red GTO that was originally built in red as they all were, and before anyone asks, this may be a good time to clarify that Ferrari SpA did not build any RHD GTOs during the production run.

I belive this car is the result of post-production work by Pininfarina.

Any idea how many 'ex-Brunei' GTO models exist? Five?
With the black GTO showing a red stripe in the blood trough for this picture as mentioned.
Also as Joe notes all done after the Ferrari factory build...

The 'Indiana Blue' 288 GTO appears to have never been seen again after it's only sighting at Pininfarina?

Marcel thank you for those serial numbers. Curiously the pictures are dated (March 30 94) six years after GTO production yet the car looks like a brand new build. Even the exhaust tips are unmarked.
I initially thought the color was Indian Blue but the web site that supplied the pictures lists the name as Indiana Blue.
Is the Indian Blue a Pininfarina paint color with a historic reference?

I have never seen any further information regarding the fate of 288 GTO 56655.

    Indiana is Italian for Indian.
    Blu Indiana in Italian.
    Or Indian Blue in English.

Well that makes perfect sense with the translation of Indian Blue, thank you Marcel!
