Wouldn't surprise me at all! Still no excuse though hehehe Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
My comment isn't about the USA, but about the playing of national anthem everywhere at sporting events, which I see as unnecessary. It's divisive and contrary to what sport wants to achieve. It's bordering on jingoism.
It's just showing respect for the flag of that nation. Why not? I could understand if you were at war with them, but a little respect never hurt anyone Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
But why should anyone be asked to show respect to a flag just because there is a motor race in that country? That's what I don't understand. It's not like a state ceremony, a remembrance day, etc... Do you remember when the God Save the Queen used to be played in cinemas and theaters in Britain? That provoked many different reactions and it was stopped after a while. I remember brawls exploding about it because some people were barred from leaving the room, whilst others insisted in no standing up, etc... People just wanted to go pictures and then go home, not play "patriots" at the end of the day.
It's hardly the latest instalment of Bridget jones diary is it? It's a prestigious event, and the rules say the anthem is played, and competitors must respect it. Rules is rules as they say, but I happen to agree with the sentiment Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Are you serious? This isn't complicated. Yes you pay respect to the flag of the country that is hosting the race. To come to the USA and disrespect our flag when you don't even live here would be a joke. If he doesnt' want to put his hand over his heart, whatever, but if he kneels that would be absurd.
I think its bad taste to do so. I think most people would realize that but with Hamilton you never know...
I think it's good he said what he said, because there will be plenty of time for his entourage to convince him not to do a gesture that could damage his career.
Yes and he would be wise to listen. It would NOT go over well with American fans, who as of right now really seem to like LH. There has been major backlash over the NFL protests.
For those who may have missed it, the HBO series Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel (Season 23, Episode 9) featured an interview with Lewis in Monaco and elsewhere. It was very well produced, the interview discussed his brother to a great degree and showed very early home footage from Lewis's childhood. When Gumbel asked about Lewis firing his father as his manager, his handlers stepped-in and the interview was terminated.
Actually non US citizen IMHO shouldn't put their hand on their heart. That's for people living in the US. It would look odd to me if foreigners would suddenly proclaim a deep love for the US. Respect is all we ask for.
That's a fair comment..... I just wish that with all that's gone on recently in Vegas, london and the rest, we could all go back a little and be more valiant to my mind.
I stand for your anthem every time tif, as I have a love of the US that goes very deep. Many great things have happened for me in the US, and of course, one thing that changed my life forever that wasn't so good. I don't mind the thought of people not standing, or ignoring it, but to actively be ignorant of it, that's wrong, there's no need for it, and I wish they would make their protests in the proper forum or something that's all
Hopefully he will act properly, and there will be one tiny reason for me not to dislike him? Won't hold my breath sunbeam
How did we end up talking about the US anthem , politics , speculating on what hamilton may or may not do in A ferrari chat forum? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
God knows, let's change the subject again What's the plan for Austin? Who's bothering to watch any more, and why, and who's not? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Fair enough. Before becoming a US citizen I did stand up too out of respect. But I didn't do the heart thing, thought that'd be cheesy unless you are an American.
