Last week was rather exciting in our shop as we took delivery of the 1960 PF Coupe Apartment Find. Quite a story and I will be documenting its restoration as we go down that road. We'll probably start in a month or two. As is understandable, the new owner is very excited to have found such a storied automobile with such great bones. He also stressed the need for confidentiality but did consent to my sharing of some information on the PF Coupe

The body and cosmetics are too far gone to allow for a solely mechanical restoration. We will be
getting into the body and interior, reviving all to make this a beautiful, driving machine. Talk about a wonderful Grand Touring automobile. I mean its a Tour de France in disguise.

I look forward to walking down this restoration experience and sharing what I can.

    I'll attach a few photos.

It’s a series 2, right? I didn’t see a side marker light on the pillar.

An improved version of the TDF then with disc brakes and outside plug engine. And slightly heavier.

    from the Petrolicious article

He is the second owner. He assembled a five-inch binder full of documents; the car is very well documented. It looks like, according to this binder, the car started assemblage in October of ‘59 and finished December ‘59.

It was sold new in California to John von Neumann. Then the gentleman that I purchased it from was the second owner, who bought it on July 29 of 1975. I gathered that he enjoyed the car for probably eight years or so, into the early 80s. From the records, it seems like he started to restore the vehicle. At that point, he actually had the engine completely redone by Briggs Cunningham’s shop. I don’t know why exactly, but he told me that Hollywood was a rough area of town, so he wanted to store it away somewhere safe.

He decided the best place to put it was to cut open a wall in one of the apartment buildings he owned and park it inside, completely intact, and seal it back so nobody could tell anything was in there. That’s where it’s been since around 1985.

We think this cartoon may have been the inspiration. It was included in his big binder, just before the photos. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Really very sorry but that story is not correct.
1607 GT was NOT sold new in California and NOT to Von Neumann.
2 October 1959 the chassis frame entered Carrozzeria Pinin Farina in Torino.
13 December 1959 Pinin Farina completed the bodywork.
3 February 1960 the Ferrari factory issued their Certificate of Origin.
3 February 1960 the new car was delivered to official dealer Gustavo Lombardi & C., domiciled at Riviera di Chiaia 245/8 in Naples, Italy.
3 February 1960 Lombardi sold the car to first Italian owner, a woman born in Athens (Greece) but resident in Naples.
6 March 1967 the lady sold the car to the second owner, also of Naples, Italy.
17 March 1967 the second owner sold the car to a dealer in Naples, Italy.
8 June 1967 that dealer sold the car to a man born in Kentucky, USA, but resident in Naples, Italy.
I have all the Italian road registration documents for the above.
Thereafter the car was exported to USA.
29 June 1975 Risley Motors of Sherman Oaks/CA sold the car to Mr. S in Hollywood/CA who kept it until 2016.

Not surprised that the facts didn't line up properly. Petrolicious does some great work, I think they were beholden to the recollections of the elderly owner as interpreted by the lawyer that eventually bought the car from him.

My friend helped put the coupe in the apartment back in the 1980's. I new about it for years but never knew where exactly were it was.
