I love the sound of the 458 but I feel it is slightly ruined by a belt squeak at high revs gear change. I initially thought I needed a belt change but listening to youtubers, I hear the same on their cars. It doesn't seem to be a problem on the 488's though. Any idea of a fix?

I get it when it is colder outside (50 degrees) and when I shift at higher rpm. At temperatures above 60 degrees, I don't have an issue. I spoke to my mechanic and he said it is common on the 458. He mentioned it wasn't anything to be concerned about. my .02

I had it on my 458. Belt changed helps, but it eventually comes back.

This is an annoying part of the 458. Once you hear it, you always listen for it!!

May the Horse be with you....

They all do it. It is just part of the charm of the car. Ferrari has never come out with a fix for it.

An overrunning alternator pulley may do the trick?

There are aerosol belt dressings available that may help, although they may need reapplying occasionally.

I must say I'm a bit puzzled when every now and then such a topic arises.

I sometimes hear it when I'm watching the video I made on my phone or on my laptop.

Driving the car I can't hear it 90% of the time and 100% of the time I don't care.

Ferrari never came with a fix for it... Because imho, there's nothing to fix.

For me, it's like complaining that in the 488 you sometimes hear the turbo spooling up on some circumstances and say Ferrari needs to fix this because it ruins the driving experience.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Where are you going to spray the belt dressing? You cannot even see any part of the belt unless you are under the car with the undertray off.

Because they are two different engines I would assume. One is a 9K NA screamer and the other is a smaller 7K turbo more similar to the California architecture.
