The stewards made the proper call. Max short cut around Kimi who was on the racing line.

Same steward as in Mexico last year when he also penalised Max on same corner Lewis had cut to gain advantage. Steward clearly doesn't like Max, no consistency to the rules.

    Well, too bad.

Fair weather fans? More like we want the team to stop Effing up and win a few races like they are supposed to. Maybe Vettel shouldn't be crashing into the guy in front of him during a safety car. Maybe Kimi shouldn't be taking out his own team mate in Singapore. You red misters would still thank Ferrari if a car never started the race.

    Oh wait.. you did.

Unfortunate end result to the race, Don't like it but do think they called it right...All the more reasons to re-introduce gravel traps! even only the width of those red stripe things

Nevertheless he drove an incredible race, really really stunning and frankly incredible. Had he started in top 6 I think he could've won the bloody thing.

Raikkonen had a great race too, had a tough battle with Bottas but once through he had great pace. Good drive.

Vettel not sure what to say...I was amazed he let Lewis take him so easy. Alonso, Max, Ricci...none would've rolled over so quickly. I was disappointed. The Ferrari ultimately didn't have the pace regardless, and pitting Vettel, they never really lost anything anyways he would've finished 2nd regardless. A suddenly safety car and he'd had won the race. Ferrari had to do it. Doesn't matter.

I contend that one reason Hamilton won the championship this year was because Bottas was a weak team mate. He took away very few points and rarely challenged Lewis all year.

Lewis cruised to most of his victories. It wasn't like that as much with Rosberg.

The Cowboys are in San Fran this weekend so perhaps they had a few stick behind for the race.

I was looking for them to get a champagne shower;)

I think Lewis learned that lesson in China. Didn't he get in trouble for spraying the girls there?

Short of causing a crash, there is nothing Seb could have done to stop Elton from winning today. You can't vigorously defend for 50 laps against a superior car with DRS.

    LOL!!!

I thought a fan was someone who wants their team to do a better job so they can win.... not to celebrate failure.

Let's give Ferrari a "Participation Trophy" this year. You'll feel so much better! Image Unavailable, Please Login

    "What the hell, hero?"

Seb brilliant "thread the needle" on Bottas.
    Then Kimi lets him by.

But Seb is on Ultras, Kimi is on Softs -- Vettel should have walked clean away.

Instead, Seb sat there, pushing Kimi back into Max.
I was wondering if Kimi was going to collide with Seb trying to stay clear of the RB.

My guess is that the stewards saw how Seb shafted Kimi, and took Max's off-track excursion as a chance to reverse it.

Seb didn't look at all pleased when Kimi showed up in the "green room".
    Remedial in "teamwork" needed?

    Please explain.

F1 is not a girls soccer match. You don't need to pat the losers on the head and say "there there".

I want Ferrari to win. You seem satisfied to watch them lose.

Winners are winners. Losers are losers.

You choose which makes you happy.

I don’t know... there’s lots of ways to get around another car...not all are allowed, safe, or classy. I’m not sure which category Max falls into. I know everyone wets themselves whenever he makes a pass but I thought the move on Bottas was out of bounds and I thought the move on Kimi was also kinda sh!tty. Dirty is too strong but Im just becoming not a fan of how he races. Talented for sure, but I think there just a total lack of respect. He’s had far too many incidents but everyone is so eager to see any sort of action in a current F1 race these past few years that it’s all just overlooked because for once there’s some excitement.

About the Verstappen incident, I think both parties are right: he was off track, but so were many others.

The fact is that if you put an extra centimetre of tarmac outside the track the drivers will use it. We are having lots of track limits controversies these last years.

I see two solutions: allow everything or put astroturf everywhere.

I think the issue of limits really only matters when there is a firm advantage.... max gained a place, knew that Kimi had no time to fight back, that's why he got penalised. It's likely the stewards might have seen it the other way if there were laps to go, and Kimi had squeezed him in any way. Max was probably hoping Kimi would squeeze him and he could claim he had no option, but Kimi was fair and left enough room, that was the death knell for the argument. Technically, Elton's pole lap yesterday he went four wheels over the lines and even brundle pointed it out as possibly to be reneged, but got away with it, possibly because it made no odds, as the second fastest lap he did was also fast enough for pole anyway.

Well, I suppose that you've following F1 for long enough to know that winning teams are not built in a day. Look from where they were coming from (2016: 0 wins) and look where they're now and you'll have to concede that there has been some improvement.

The funny thing is that the same that say that the team is a disaster are the same that complain when Sweater Man wants to change something. Hey, if things are so bad, I suppose that changes should be welcomed, or what?

Consider "the wall of champions" in montreal. That's a track limit! And it gets brushed multiple times per race weekend.

If you have anything short of fixed obstructions to define track limits,… drivers are going to take another centimeter, or 10, or 100. Until they get there hand slapped.

    Max got his hand slapped…

    Sucks for him.

Yes, there is inconsistent enforcement of the rules. Oh well. Life isn't fair. If it was, Lance Stroll would be asking if you would like soy or skim milk in your latte.

Raikkonen wasn't aware that Verstappen was even getting a penalty...apparently he asked ''what for?" after he got told.

Current and ex racing drivers are all firmly in Verstappen's camp. I think not because they think his overtake was fair, but because it was again a steward decided ''track limits'' thing and the inconsistency. They ****ing HATE the painted track limits.

IMO the width of that massive red line alonside the COTA track, put ****ing gravel in it! Same for all tracks world wide and it stops this ********.
