Those last two pics made me LOL!
#1120048 was used for the Perfumes Lamborghini back in the days... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
1120156 belongs to our client GK, and exists with some interesting features including amber lens covers, perforated seat inserts in red, circular small turn-signal lenses, swiss-cheese circular holes venting for the engine cover. Said to be the New York Auto Show car, it has just 3,365 miles (5,416 kilometers) presently. Beautiful! But all those "interesting features" make me wanna see pics of that New York Auto Show it is believed to be the show car. When a friend of mine saw 1120156 in the late 80s, the turn-signals were still the original square ones...
Unfortunately I have never seen proof that the unique features were factory-applied nor have I ever seen images or proof that it was the NYAS Countach. I notice the 80s image has it facing a later variant white Countach.
If you ask me, it looks like a post production modifications. The hed light color reminds me on the Ferrari 512bb .
I tend to agree with this, it may have been done for the NYAS, but I think it was probably done when the car came to the USA.
love these old vintage photos guys.. can you tell me the year and place of this autoshow please 74-75? torino ?
That is Turin 1974, with the new Urraco P300 [behind] and P200 models alongside - and that unmistakable floor...
I mentioned this years ago. Roger Yasukawa, Indycar driver born in Los Angeles, CA . While watching an Indycar race years ago, they had a little 2 minute profile on Roger growing up. One of the photos showed him in front of a garage on his bicycle. In the garage was a blue lp400. Since he was born in '77, photo of him looked like he was 2-5yrs if I remember. Putting the car there in '79-8?. Anyone have any knowledge on this car? Just curious.
Yes, the Countach was "Blu Notte Metallizzato" with two-tone "Bianco/Blu" interior, VIN #1120100. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh yes, very cool! Where is the car nowadays? So, this is the car and that's probably his father or previous owner.
Yes, indeed! His father, Mr. Minuro Yasukawa, was the first owner of 1120100 in the USA, on January 29th 1981. This Countach had already at least one owner in Italy from 1975, and 2 others in Japan (1977 & 1978 / 1979). #1120100 changed ownership in 1981 when Mr. Yasukawa sold it, and was repainted Red with Black interior. It was in a private collection since 1984 and almost never used! It has traveled only 190 miles in the last 20 years!! Tires are still date coded 1981! It is now finally for sale... 1'000'000 $ Here's the car, pictured in 1988 and used for a puzzle, that I own. (the puzzle! not the car... yet!) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Amazing journeys some of these cars have travelled through, like the proverbial Cat with Nine Lives! Meanwhile, I think this is the Shah's 1120190 (with green 365 Boxer behind and vintage Rolls in front) at a BMW dealer's car event in Iran circa 25 years ago? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, some of them definitely had about 9 lives... I recall you told me once you still have negatives of #1120104 when Red yet to share with us! In the mean time, here it is appearing in the movie 'Parasite' from 1982, as the bad guy's car. What else...? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, terrific information. Just cool how the puzzle of these cars come together. Kudos to all for working on, and keeping track of these cars.
1120104 belonged to my friend Oleg Stavrowsky, the irrepressible Mountain Man, he often drove it flat-out from Santa Fe New Mexico to Phoenix Arizona to have Bob Wallace tune it. On one such trip he hit a wolf @ well over 100 mph and the front end of the car was badly damaged. I have color slides I need to convert, I promise to get to it soon, the car was Rosso with Tobacco and it had the famed Bob Wallace 'Megaphono' exhaust pipes.
Victor I am inspired by your genuine enthusiasm, so just for you I trawled through my archives and, Voila! As promised, here are color slides of Oleg Stavrowsky's Countach LP400 parked at his cabin, on color slides clearly dated "May 1977", given to me by the mad Mountain Man himself @ 20 years ago. Clearly these were taken before he hit the wolf! My wife will get these developed to high-resolution as images and I will post them for you here. Please bear with me as I have quite a few projects ongoing, so it may take some time. These images have never been published anywhere before.
