You are correct. So in the end, it sucked because the tires sucked. God himself wasn't winning the WDC in that Ferrari.
Ok, we will go with your theory....Hamilton sucks big time. You lost to a sucky driver. I wouldn't go around bragging about that. By the way, what was Vettel doing at the start? He managed to hit two people...he almost pulled a "Singapore" by taking out the first 3 cars. It must have been on purpose since you claim he is the superior driver with the superior car control skills.
Never said he sucked. Hell, I would consider him a top 15 driver in history so don't go putting words in my mouth. His fanboys overrate him though. Vettel won driver of the day from F1 so I guess it can't have been all that bad. Lol. Love how you complain about all the "haters" yet badmouth Seb at every turn on a Ferrari site. No one is talking about Vettel, so why are you bringing him up? Insecure much?
You should probably take a look at the title of this thread. If I'm not mistaken Vettel was responsible for the crap race we had yesterday. I shouldn't mention the guy that almost pulled a "Singapore" again? I guess it's easier for you to come here and bash the guy that had to recover with a car that spent the whole lap on three wheels thanks to Sebby. Does that ease your pain of losing another championship to a sucky driver? I'm sure all teams build their cars to ride around on 3 wheels for at least one lap without any damage to floor/diffuser and Toto is just lying again.
I would love to have Vettel and Hamilton peep this thread and laugh at the people who put someone like Rosberg in the same conversation as them. HA! Vettel built a team around him, fought two very tough campaigns and dominated the other two, for his 4x WDCs. Hamilton won his first title in the 2nd best car against a tough Ferrari team, won his 2nd with an reliable car, dominated his 3rd, and won his 4th with the 2nd best car by driving consistently against a 4x World Champ with a better car. Witnessing a great era in F1 with Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, and hopefully Verstappen. Well deserved Championship Lewis.
Vettel did NOT build the team around him, he got very lucky the year he won his first as Alonso and Webber were covering each other and forgot to close the back door 2nd best car ?? Another ****** on ignore **** there are some wild statements made about this rubbish from people that have goldfish memories
Though wasn't Seb on Ultrasoft tyres? There wasn't much of a delta between the Ultra and Super, but it will have definitely helped him somewhat.
Nico would have won against Hamilton this year too. Nico had Lewis' measure for sure. It just took a couple of years.
I think last year's championship weighed heavily on both men and Nico came out the better and realised he had done what he needed to and left. It is still churning up inside of Elton as can be seen from his social media crap ...... Nico must be laughing his head off inside knowing he disturbed Hamilton that much
That's part of why I reckon Nico would have beaten him again this year. Plus Nico is just better and smarter. He just needed to stop being so nice.
Nico is the better of the two; has more class. He congratulated Lewis on his 4th WDC title on youtube.
I don't post much any more in F1 because of all the trash talk, but thought I'd address the "without any damage to the floor/diffuser" comment - on the Sky post-race show, Ted Kravitz showed a picture of the Mercedes diffuser - the whole right end was broken off, they lost a huge amount of downforce with the damage from the flat tire caused by Seb's understeering moment. The car that Hamilton drove all race, and struggled to overtake with, was damaged and had reduced downforce.
Haha, Nico is old news...he didn't stick around to defend his title because deep down, he knew he wouldn't/couldn't He got lucky in 2016 and scraped to the title, despite less race wins, by a meager 5 points - this despite a 28-point swing in Malaysia alone, and a raft of PU failures and grid drops for LH throughout the season. He was very quick, but all in all he was a driver very much flattered by the cheese-era Pirellis (thus his positive record against Schumacher 2.0) and was skiddish and clumsy in close quarters battles. With more teams in the mix in 2017, faster cars and more durable tires, the gap to Hamilton was going to be larger than ever - he was due for a royal pasting and knew to get out while the going was good.
I am amazed at how much time and space is taken up here bashing Hamilton. Like him, hate him...who cares, it doesn't matter. Mercedes beat Ferrari. Hamilton beat Vettle. Those are the simple facts. For the last two races of the year, I'm more interested in the middle of the pack. Ocon is the driver who interests me. If Renault wants a French driver (and Prost has always wanted that), and if they deliver a solid engine, pinching Ocon from Force India, and replacing Nico Hulkenberg would give them a very strong and young...and tested...couple of drivers. Haas has to get some drivers of a higher level...and hungrier. And maybe Haas should be talking to Honda as well. And maybe Haas should consider buying Sauber and folding the two teams into one...keeping the best of each...and saving money while also pooling it.
@kraftwerk : as you liked this post, is this really the "real world" you are talking of? Do you guys really believe that the Mercedes was NOT the best car in the field? Are you guys trying to tell us that Lewis won in an inferior car this year and that Bottas was not the No.2 driver??? If so it does not make any sense to discuss this with you any further as not even the foundation for a reasonable discussion is given. Calling the car "second best" that ran almost a second clear at Silverstone is simply a joke.... Sounds very much like the conversation about Nico winning over Hamilton with the Lewis supporters. They also said Nico sucks and yet Lewis lost in the SAME car. Interesting that you guys come to this conclusion with others but not with yourself
I have no idea how a lucky one time WDC like Nico can even be put in the same sentence as a 4 time wdc like Ham. His rightful peer group is Hill and Raikonnen.
Yes Gordon I know the feeling, it is a great shame I have noticed that a good few well informed knowledgeable posters, do not post in the F1 section anymore. Seems to me that most threads end up bashing Hamilton in one form or another from the usual suspects, and it becomes very tiresome.
Merc built a great car, however I don't think it was the best on all circuits, Ferrari was certainly more than a match for it on occasions, but as we know things didn't quite go to plan when they had the upper hand.
I would say it was the best on the majority of the tracks and some of the mistakes of Ferrari and Vettel where down to the fact that they needed to push much harder to keep up with the Mercedes. I would say Vettel was driving on the edge more often than not...On how many occasions was the Ferrari on pole and simply drove away into the sunset like Lewis did in Silverstone for example? Once the guys of Mercedes sorted out the Mercedes and its narrow window of getting the tyres at work after a few races they were better for most of the season and the lead of Vettel slowly dissappeared... Stays the undoubtable "extra qualifying power" of the Mercedes that gave them a huge advantage over Ferrari... So at the end the better car won, if someone says that over the season (including mechanical failures) the second best car won I would call that illusive and certainly not "real world".
Yes I hear you, if it makes you happy the better car won Just as a matter of interest,do you think Vettel would have beaten Ham and Bottas in Mexico, had he not damaged his car ?
