Note to self, car on, ring off......... you should have a right hand drive, the arm out the window isn't the one ending in a ring finger!

Best not to show this type of message to my fiancé, lest she makes me order a ring that's so tight I would never be able to get it off my finger :p

    I kid, I kid ;)

    Dear David,

Thanks for the kind invitation but I will not intentionally subject myself and my bride to the absolutely horrific traffic conditions in your area. However I would cordially invite you and CINCHOUSE to avail yourselves of our delightful guest house the next time you two decide to visit the City Different and partake in dining with us here in Santa Fe.

    Best regards,

    Robert

I've never seen any woman give my Ferrari a first look let alone a second. It must be different in the USA.
They, in my experience are more impressed with my CLK or the Alfa. The former only because the metallic blue is rather noticeable.

In US, women are more impressed by a $40k Continental then a brand new 812.

No, it's the same here. The only girl who ever complimented my Ferrari was about ten years old, and her mom looked embarrassed.

In the US Ferraris mostly attract males in the 10-25 age range.

And my old Alfa Spider does get more female attention than the Ferrari or the EVO.

But, to be fair, I have seen US women interested in Ferraris.
I had two women attracted to my 328. Both were computer programmers. (Oh the irony. :p)

A female engineer I worked with had done one of those "racetrack experience" vacations ...
... where she fell in love with the 488.

I just parked my car at a local club drive and start to talk to another ferrari owner next to me and he says, " good looking car, nice to see an older one out these days. What's the 4 seater that everyone hates?" I reply, "the mondial." He says, " yeah that's the one! What model is yours???" I reply, "Mondial 8". Lastly he says " oh my gosh I thought it was a 308....."

Gassing up my 458 and a guy in F150 pulls up behind me blocking all other traffic.

Guy: "my truck is faster than that"

    Me: "really, that's awesome"

Guy: "I think I'm gonna buy one of those too. What are they 80 grand?"

    Me: "No, closer to 200"

    Guy: "No they're not!"

Me: "sir, you're blocking traffic and people are trying to leave"

A few years ago I drove my F430 spider through South Carolina and stopped at a gas station I the middle of nowhere. I nice guy in overalls asked my "Goollii, is that a Ferrari!". I told him "yes", at which time he replied "how do you know?" ( I was filling gas right next to silver letters on the back that said 'Ferrari "). So, I answered "that is what I bought", to which he replied, "but it could be one of those new Toyotas" .. I gave up, smiled and said "I hope not..."

I stop at a red light while a bunch of middle-school children was walking on the cross walk. When they saw my 360 Spider, they start taking out their cellphones and running toward me. By that time, I have the green light, but didn't move because of the potential danger to the children. They ask me if they can take pictures and touch the Ferrari. I said, "have at it". Meanwhile, the woman driver behind me got impatient and start honking her horn. A couple of kids gave her the middle finger and shouts, "up yours!" I was speechless, thinking that one day, these children will run our country.

There's a major gas station between Geneva and Lausanne (near where I live), and every time I go for a fill-up there, I get only positive experiences (thank god).

Just last week, I was filling up my Modena, and a man with his 5-6 year old son comes along and he gushes "my son loooooves this car". I was still filling up the 80l tank, and told him "open the door, let your son sit inside and take all the photos you want".

It was a cool sight, seeing the father take photos of his son sitting in the Modena, and they were cool throughout :) Why not spread some of the Ferrari love, I think many are worried owners are just snobs... I want to dispel the myth. Spread the love.

Happy to say it's been a good run for me since I had ownership.

Totally agree. I probably have 2-3 kid incidents like this every month at cars and coffee meets. I would have liked it if a Ferrari owner do that with my kids. So now, every time I have a chance I let a kid sit in the car for photos, and think I have converted yet another future Ferrari owner...

I agree that is the way it should be!! It is a story a child can tell many times over for many years. I still tell about my first encounter with a Ferrari a very young boy. It's great to make someones day!!

I've been asked, "What kind of car is it"? When I say Ferrari, that has been followed by, "Who makes that"? Sometimes the follow up conversation is like an Abbot and Costello, Whose on First routine.

Also recently took a customers son out for a drive during a lunch break, with a part of the drive in a highway tunnel with the windows down and revs in the ceiling with the Tubi howling behind us.

Once we were back at my customers office and he was unbuckling his son from the harness, it was nice to hear the son tell his dad "that was so cool!". And he kept saying it over an dover and over with the tunnel being his favorite part :D
