Good thing you didn't have to go via Shannon. They reported a 76 mph wind gust from Ophelia. Just think - an Irish hurricane! (And soon to be Scottish as well.)

Wings is about a mile from my office... been there many times. Great museum. They have a B-1 in the hangar.

They used to have the B-52 unfenced and on Armed Forces Day you could climb through it. Very tight, tiny and small inside. You had to wear a hard hat to go through.
There was a lot a vandalism; spray paint tagging, metal dented, etc. so they put it on pylons and fenced it in. Too bad.

BTW, the B-18 Bolo is the bomber version of the DC-3.

    Also, there's a B-1A inside the hangar...

Where else can you see a "Blue Canoe"

It's at the remains of the old Lowry AFB; there was a bombing range during WW2 SE of Aurora, CO.
Lowry was the home of the Air Force Academy for the first couple years while they were building the campus near Colorado Springs.

Cool. Me and the boy only had about 5 hours on the ground in Denver but may have walked past your office on the way from breakfast to the Museum.
We hung out under the B-52 for almost 30 minutes until the museum opened.

The boy really loved flipping switches in the ISS mockup, and after sitting in the Canbera wanted to climb in EVERY other plane especially the Bede BD5 in Blue Angels livery which he ducked under the rope and ran up to.
I loved seeing the F104, F100 etc and yeah that B-18 was really neat.
Got to do some more reading on the intriguing "Jetwing". Never heard of it before: https://wingsmuseum.org/portfolio/ball-bartoe-jetwing-2/

Image Unavailable, Please Login Since kids are in the news...my girls Sammy (FO) and Gabby (Self-loading Cargo) getting their first flight in a 170 with Joe, from our local EAA chapter. The EAA Young Eagles orientation flights are great for the kids...

The Biergarten is a favorite spot... great trip.

Everyone else, if in Denver, drop by "Wings Over the Rockies"
