Congratulations on figuring out how a message board works.

I don't know, Sally. How does it make you feel?

Pretty easy to understand what it means. Just because we don't like Lewis doesn't mean we don't think he's good. It's this nonsense cropping up from the fanboys about how he's the best ever, has 3 tenths in hand over Vettel, blah blah that is a big joke

Figuring out how a message board works? Once again, meaningless response by you. Go ahead, answer back, quote every sentence in my response - let's see how long of a back and forth you can make this. Let's go for the complete boredom record. Better hurry up though, because I am tiring of this quickly.

I'm quite comfortable in my masculinity, thank you very much.

Seems there is a lot unwarranted frustration being vented out by the usual suspects, as in evidence by name calling and attempts to evade the profanity filters.
    Poor form.

Huh ..I have no idea who or what you are referring to, however my point is, the nature of the adolescent posts on here of late, is enough to put anyone off posting their point of view, I can only assume that is your intention?.

Please don't try to play this card, seeing as you are well known for childish outbursts and being an argumentative troll. As for me in particular, I have carefully outlined why I feel the way I do about Lewis. Have given him his due (on record as saying I think he is a top 15, possibly top 10 driver EVER - though that is still not good enough for...your crowd), as well as backed up my own points about him being overrated through factual data on how dominant his cars have been. I love numbers, you can't argue with them.

Don't really care whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, pose a counter argument or kindly quit biting at my ankles. Thanks.

Thanks. That's what I suspected. The Mercedes is significantly more dominant than Ferrari or Red Bull were during their respective dominant eras.

And if we exclude 2017,... Mercedes won 87% of the races 2014-16. No competition at all.

To the topic of the thread. Lewis is a great driver. One of the best. But the Mercedes has been so good, we haven't been allowed to see how good Hamilton really is.

I disagree, go back a bit before the merc years, and watch what elton was doing...fighting massa whom like him was driving a not so competitive car, go back some more and he was also fighting massa, but now in a very competitive car....fastforward to our days, lewis is winning in the ebst car and massa is strollin in a bad car....to me this is all i need to know about how good Hamilton is....he's exacly as good as the car he drivers, same as massa and so many other drivers.

    Okay...I'll play the card...

A bunch of you need to start acting like the adults you (presumably) are. Boo-hoo? Sally? Childish outbursts calling out childish outbursts? MANY of you are acting like spoiled little brats and it's tiresome.

I have a strong dislike for LewHam, but the blind vitriol that has become normal here is so far out of line when one considers that: A) you (again, presumably) are adults...and, B) it's F1...a freakin' game/sport/spectacle...nothing else. The perceived objectivity in this forum just does not exist...as much as many of you claim that it does.

Here's the thing, in my garage I have a lovely sculptured car with a Ferrari badge on it, it cost me a serious amount of money, and even if I don't drive the damn thing it still bites at my wallet. So yes that is my money invested in the brand you are foaming at the mouth at, if anyone dare question rate a driver or team higher than the makers of my car.

My point is, what you need to realise is, folk can support Ferrari as I do, and still rate other drivers/teams higher without having a narrowed minded view to hate anybody else that's not in the red camp.

Having the likes of you call me a argumentative troll for posting my opinion seems to confirm what I initially asked you in post #190.

Next point I didn't bite at your ankles, but it did make me chuckle I admit, I posted #183 ..you replied to that at #187 agree ?.

I really rate Hamilton's inherent driving skill and his accomplishments, and personally I do think this is another thread to try and somewhat diminish his achievements.

I accept your acknowledgment of how you rate him, however sometimes they always come over as a backhanded compliments.

Simple answer is no. It's fun to read through this thread on a slow day at work though.

You may have missed some posts by the recently reanimated Krafty. Comes back, baits, then whinges about people swearing. The swear filter does it's job so he should shut up, he knows I swear, he's a bloody adult if he can't take that on a ****ing forum how does he survive in the real world?

I've been posting like this since I got here, and suddenly, only now, Kraftwerk has a problem with it. If he did it 10 ****ing years ago, fine. But he hasn't.

You know what's pissing me off? I may be in ''the group'' that hates Hamilton, so be it. But there's a second group here, a pro hamilton group, who keeps ****ing at it, and it doesn't matter how many times we've said that we do think Hamilton is a good driver, they still keep repeating the same over and over again ''why don't you admit he's great?" "why do you think he sucks". Nothing like that is being said, but that's the thing they keep holding on to.

It's a Ferrari forum, yes we're of course welcome to support others and whatnot, I've been a long time fan of Vettel, even when he was HATED here, and boy did he get some stick...It's very simple, I didn't go on every thread proclaiming Vettel is the greatest thing ever, nor did I **** on every anti-Vettel (or ''non believer'') arguing till death asking if he's seen the light yet. Nor does this **** happen with Verstappen. He's increasingly disliked here, I happen to like him. Have I been banned for defending him? Yep, but that was pretty unrelated as it was a simple disagreement between a few of us.

There's a group busy here that is doing exactly what pisses many off here: constantly bitching that we don't acknowledge that Hamilton is the greatest thing ever, and why should we? I don't go on Mclaren chat.com to say Ferrari is the superior team, or that the 488 is better than then 650S.

Getting back to the original question at hand, NO, Hamilton's career will not have an asterisk any more than any other champion who happened to be in the right car at the right time. Being a fast driver is certainly a large part of the career of an F1 pilot, but the other, almost more important aspect is to land in the right car. Every multi-WDC winner had that going for him at some point in his career. If I'm Hamilton or any world champion, I'm probably happy to be driving the best car versus feeling insecure about how doing such may undermine my talent level.

At the end of the day, you drive to become a champion.

Will there be a call out in the record books saying he drove a dominant Merc for 4 years= asterisk (basically, to minimize his wins while in the Merc)
