Ferrari doesn't use staples on their dash installs. When you re-do your dash, have the upholsterers use staples. Also, remember those long defroster vents are replaceable. It strongly recommend doing those while you are in there. My headliner completely dropped out on my 2006 612. I had documented the complete rebuild of the car on the forum and also the process of repairing. I strongly recommend commercial grade glue and padding. As for product, Leatherique only
Anyone know the part number for the vent in front of the dash? Mine has a crack and I'm thinking about replacing it but haven't been able to locate the part number on the diagrams. Also, what it the process for removing it? Snaps in? Screws?
Thanks Dave. I knew they shared some parts but I thought the 612 vent was one piece. I took a closer look and it is in 2 parts. Next question is how do you remove it?
I don't know. I believe we refinished a few sets but we didn't remove them and I don't recall what the back sides look like.
Peter why don’t you call Randy at RMT. He just did mine and so I am sure he will share. If you want, tell him I told you to call. I just saw him yesterday. Ron
RMT Motorsports in Yorba Linda. (714) 340-3500 They were the ones that did the dash replacement that I talked about earlier in this thread. They just replaced the vent piece you are talking about in my 612. The good news is that you can get it in about a week from Ferrari. The bad news is that they will charge you $800 for it. Randy is the owner of RMT and is well know down in the Orange County Ferrari community. He is very helpful and I am sure if you call him he will tell you how to take out the vent piece. Ron
I haven't checked Ricambi on their pricing who is my usual "go to" for parts. I see that Eurospares UK has both parts for about $350.
Circling back to this thread, I'm looking for the RH & LH Under Windshield Plates. The plastic pieces which are the air vent on the top of the dash under the windshield. Dave listed them as parts 66853300 & 67092900 which come up for the 599. As he noted, many of the parts are interchangeable between the cars. Before I order anything, I am also seeing part number 80464800 & 80464900 listed for the 612. Are they the same part? Some sources have them available but they are much higher priced than the ones listed for the 599. Other sources show that they have been superseded by the part numbers listed for the 599. Any one know what is going on?
Why don’t you call Randy at RMT motorsports. 714-340-3500. He just replaced them six months ago on my 612. I was just out there today having my annual servicing. I am sure Randy will be happy to tell you what the right part number is. Just tell him Ron with the 612 told you to call.
I can tell you with certainty that the correct part numbers for the defroster vents on the 612 are: 80464900 and 80464800
