that is a sideways compliment! It is too busy with so much crammed into a small space/volume. The roof treatment reminds me of the F60 America. The NSX wears it's design better though the front on the blue grey version is better defined than the dark red version shown. The bland grey Mazda did more with less.
The Mazda didn't suffer from the 'thick door' syndrome that seems to afflict so many recent designs. The problem is only accentuated by a low roof line and small side glass. The huge side vent behind the door is yet another example of where it appears as if two different body designs are welded together and the group that designed the front half was not talking to the group that was designing the back half. Graceful design has been co-opted by brutal efficiency not just in the video game example.

it's hard to tell but it looks as though there are 'flying buttresses' ala the Ford GT. Is that a new cliche'/trend? I personally think the front end is a better execution than the NSX.

This NSX design is not really trying to offend anyone and even has the silent mode. That earlier Lamborghini (see post #5652) on the other hand would probably end up in the hedge instead of beside the hedge. To some degree a reflection perhaps of the type of owner each would attract...

Not a big fan of the diving line on the bodyside. It’s only on every car on the road

New Corvette ZR1 is looking good. They got the details right and they fit well on the base design.

Sadly i’m not a fan. It all works and it’s functional, but there’s many ways to skin that cat.

I just think the "street racer" look fits in this case. It makes me think of a Corvette version of the Porsche GT3. :)

I interviewed with him and another guy when I was just out of school and they were at VW. He had just designed the new VW Beetle concept, the TT concept and I think some other Audi concepts. I didn't quite have the background to get a job but it was a treat to pick their brains for an hour or so about product design and the automotive industry. I am still grateful for that small opportunity. :)

I'm bothered by the execution of the front fascia. I know all about the cooling requirements and aero, yet the solution just doesn't get it for me. But you're right, it's a street/race car, and it delivers on that account.

Totally understood. Upon further review, it does look a little too pinched in the center. Sometimes those things look better in the flesh. Other than that I give it a thumbs up. :)

Trust me the Corvette team stared at that front end for months before ‘signing off’ on it. I’m sure they love it! I’m still not ‘sold’ ,but my vote doesn’t count.

To me, there are two big issues that are killing the front end. The first is the giant grill mesh, it looks totally out of place and becomes the first read, like it is jumping out at your eyes. Just getting rid of the mesh is a big improvment IMO. The second thing are the shapes created by the grill surrounds, they scream of Civic Type R. They just seem out of place. Overall, I don't think the front looks racy or purposeful. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
