I will be completely transparent in my motives. The thread about Hamilton having an asterisk added to his records was started by someone who felt quite differently about his going to Mercedes back in 2012. I felt the need to shine a light on how he kind of predicted Hamilton + Merc would be a fruitful partnership, but now wants to add an asterisk because it has actually worked out very well.

That just stuck in my craw for some reason...

I remember reading this a while ago, I think it was after him winning his 3rd titel in 2015 and being asked about Senna....But as I did not do the interview in person I can neither approve nore deny it...But isn´t it practical that since the general acceptance of the term "fake news" everybody can just believe what suits his own opinion and still be on the safe side ;)
So even if I would find the interview it most likely would not make any change as seen recently when Lewis himself said that Ferrari never asked him about joining them and this was refused to be true as this interview was not written in a newspaper that was well liked?

You are right Pete, and he also stated it in an interview on tv with either channel four/five or sky, can't remember which, but hey, I assume we should imagine he was probably lying because he didn't respect the interviewer or channel? Or can we take that as red?

I know Luca de montezemolo certainly wasn't interested in him as I asked him first hand in private one time, and it was also a view shared by Luca Colliani whilst at maranello. Not sure on piero's take in him, he was totally non-committal about drivers when I asked, but then they had just signed the pre-nuptials with vettel at the time, so likely didn't want to let the cat out the bag

I just read the first couple of pages of this thread, WOW!
How ever you feel about Hamilton, he has proven a lot of people wrong.

Remains the question whether people underestimated Lewis or Mercedes ;)

LOL. What great and knowledgeable judges are many (most?) on here.

Which is probably why Hamilton is a multi-millionaire, four-time world champion ... and none of us are.
