Suggest putting the proper spring stiffness, travel, height, spacing and suspension settings on the F12B then compare flatness and response. The best part of the 812 is they already made these corrections. Love how the wheels sit in the arches. Love the brakes. Love the hp increase. The rest falls short as the best GT ever made IMHO.

I really like how you break it into 3 categories, while I can imagine the traditional GT and road racer specifications and possible color combinations, I can't visualize the ultra modern GT, please elaborate?

Had the opportunity of contemplating for the first time the 812 at my dealer. The car was hidden under the cover I don't know why and they removed it for me to have a look. They've already sold all their contingent and the owners will receive the new cars only in 2019 which means almost a two years waiting time. Anyway this particular one is presented in a beautiful Grigio with black wheels which make a very nice combination and aesthetically the car looks much better on the flesh that in the pictures. The lines are no doubt much more aggressive than the ones of the F12 specially looking at the profile and very sporty. The rear which has been for my personal taste the less positive part of the car, alive looks substantially better than in the pictures and if I had to I could live with it. Spoke with two people who have driven the one in the picture for sometime and they've mentioned the car is impressive in every sense and the very noticeable difference to the F12 is the rear wheels steering which is very effective but takes getting used Image Unavailable, Please Login to.

I don't think so. I think it will plough a slightly different furrow rather than taking the tdf on directly. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the long awaited spider for example, but regardless I am sure it will be quite something.

Interesting. Did u get a chance to drive it in "anger" as maybe that's when the sound may change. When I drive the F12 semi-quick its OK. When I drive "in anger" on B and C roads and am max in 3rd but mostly first and second its just magic

Yes, and you are right, but I still thought it was a bit quieter although I could be wrong given I have a year of tdf sound since I last played the F12 music.

Your feelings replicate mine Mario. Much nicer in reality, especially the rear and in a nice colour. Was the car you saw Titanio and what about the interior?

Justin the car is Grigio Titanio and looks good but to be honest I prefer the looks of the darker G. Ferro. The seats color looks like sabbia with color inner details in a dark color making a nice combination. The dash board is dark as well and in the front section has incorporated details in "sabbia" making it look very nice. I can't remember if it was you or Tim that mentioned when the car was launched that the interior of the 812 appeared down graded in comparison with the F12. To my eye that interior I saw was a bit of a deception because the leather surface quality looks to be cheaper than the one of my F12 but may be that's just my impression due to the fact that "sabbia" is a much lighter color than the Iroko I'm used to see.

The 812s sounded good trackside at Varano to all of us attending but more difficult to appreciate in the cabin wearing helmuts. TDF exhaust sound sets a very high bar for any car including current F1 cars! I doubt the 812 will match it at any rev level but I look forward to making that comparison in mid-Jan when I take delivery of the 812. Absolutely agree with Tim regarding 812 - it is an amazing achievement but TDF is on another level and fit for a very different purpose than the 812. I am looking forward to enjoying both.

Can you tell me the name of this color? Does anyone know what the color was for the launch car at the Geneva Motor Show? Also, as the car at the Frankfurt motor show the same as Geneva or was this a different grey. I keep hearing different things the grey color and am trying to get a name for the color. Any help would be appreciated

812 does not match tdf for sound. Took tdf for 3,000 mile tour of France and Italy in summer exploring every increment of the rpm range in many different settings (inlcuding the many tunnels between France and Italy). It was truly operatic, melodic, searing, exciting and artillery-like (in a cultured way). Had two days with four 812s at Corso Pilota in Fiorano (photos in earlier posts) and, allowing for some dulling of the note and volume by the compulsory helmets, it didn’t sound like Pavarotti gargling pre-turbo F1 cars like the tdf. Will also make some allowance for the sound getting lost due to few sound reflecting surfaces around the track and the compulsory short-shift at 5,000 rpm due to the torrential rain. But even at 4,000 rpm the tdf is already on song.

The power of the 812 was searing though. Now it was truly wet, with rivers running across the track, but it would spin rear wheels up in 4th gear at 5,000 rpm after the exit of the penultimate hairpin at Fiorano (with steering wheel straight). Had to change up to 5th early or ease off (better to change up). And shout “luck” really loudly with elongated vowels. “Luuuuuuuuuuuck!” Luck with an “F”.

Still don't get why the continued comparisons of the 812 with the TDF (particularly sound)........two very different cars with extremely different development briefs. To review the 812 and call it muted in most aspects in comparison to the TDF is frankly stating the obvious and no one should be surprised or disappointed by that....apples and oranges. A truer comparison would be the standard F12 vs the 812 and I think in that most of us can agree that previous set benchmarks have all been exceeded.
