Well he's the only remaining one of the ones they where after (kubica, Di Resta, Sirotkin) so I've little doubt it would be him in the end.
See "it.motorsport.com"; says it's official, although some détails still need to ne ironed out. If not possible, the back-up solution would then be Kvyat. Kubica and Di Resta out of the Picture for good. Rgds
Translate is poor but doesn't look to me it's outright confirmed, just what the rest (also motorsport.com) are confirming that Sirotkin is the favourite, just no deal signed . Pressure on Stroll? Sirotkin only won his first car racing season (Formula Abarth Euro, not the highest ranking series), GP2 he was 3rd both complete seasons, so not bad at all but also away from the winners. Stroll has the F1 experience now, so pressure on him to solidly beat him.
can't believe this, Williams will have by far the worst lineup on the grid..it's simply ridiculous!!!
If real and confirmed, in one respect I'm glad for Kubica...I think Williams is not a good match for him...and not a very good team period. I would rather see Kubica as a reserve driver at Renault then in a seat at Williams. Or with Sauber/Alfa...even as a reserve driver. There could be opportunities for a racing seat if a young and stupid driver killed themselves.
I think that Kubica as a reserve driver makes sense, he can assist to a degree with development and set-up. I hope that there is a role for him.
Incredible that Kubica was in the race for a cockpit given his right hand appearing so completely motionless when climbing into the cockpit.
No it does not "La conferma ufficiale arriverà probabilmente nei prossimi giorni." There probably is a single source which is used on both the Italian and English Motorsport.com
Williams, though, is remaining tight-lipped, with a spokesperson telling GPUpdate.net: "We have no plans for any announcement at this stage regarding our drivers."
A few weeks ago Kubica contract was claimed to be certain, with just a few details to be sorted out, and now we have the same claims for Sirotkin - they have no reason to be taken more seriously. Probably Williams is trying to raise the price (competition for the seat they propose is good for them) while the respective sponsors still need to prove the money they are ready to put on the table. In the end I doubt the decision will consider anything else than money, and that makes it more difficult: Williams need to make 100% sure they'll get the promised amount.
So if Sirotkin cannot come up with the $$$$ who is left in line , Di Resta? although he brings no personal money afaik.
Well..not wanting to split the hair in four, but: in our latin langages of french and italian, the use of the word "confirmation" means the deal is already done indeed, but only needs to be confirmed... Rgds
That is a bit rich from Tost....having fired the guy ..he is definately faster than either of the 2 new kids, Ghastly and Goldilocks.. Yes the Torpedo was a bit fragile for sure, but he did have a lot of natural speed. He will succomb to F eeeewww like so many of the F1 rejects.
