Better hope the "GTO" succeeds at being louder than the birds in that video!

The axle width front and rear seems to be a little bit wider, presumably the new chassis/suspension setup will be tested.

I'm not surprised. In naming these cars, the decision is only made a very short time before launch and we are still months away so I very much doubt it has yet been confirmed.

    You are right,Tim.
For example for the 812 Superfast name selection process started just two and a half weeks before the first private launch.
And if you could read all the name options for it, more than one will laugh about some of them.

Respectfully, you are dreaming IMHO. The fact that this far out the GTO moniker is being used by the media ensures it will not be so. Kinda reminds me of the F12 GTO or should I say F12 TDF. Not going to happen my friend.

I am more interested in the specs than the name. Look at the Mclaren Senna and you see how the competition has "moved the game along".

Boost and aero for the plus-up on a turbo production car. Don't get over excited. There's LEs for that.

The Senna is a track car and a member of Macca's Ultimate series (along with the P1), i.e. a hypercar. The 488 GTO is just the more focused version of a "normal" supercar.

Very interesting: the 488 seems to be the competitor for more or less the entire McLaren portfolio, from the 570S till up to the Senna, all are compared to the 488. This speaks clearly for the Ferrari, what an all-round weapon!

Very true however I think Ferrari should deliver something truly special and unique to its fans with this new 488 gto maybe a higher redline better sound better looks and interior.
The scuderia was a big step up from the 430 I did not feel the speciale was as big of a leap forward from the 458.

I would have jumped on the 488 bandwagon if they kept naturally aspirated maybe if they went V10 instead like Lamborgini with the performante. I personally like the performante better than the 488.

Let's hope Ferrari does not let us down with this new introduction.

No argument but as an aspirational goal its not a bad one. It also shows how McLaren has "one upped" Ferrari with LE's. Still leaves them room for a 750S (and other derivatives) - brand dilution and horrific depreciation noted (McLaren is famous for this)

As long as Ferrari realise competition has truly arrived - all will be good

BTW: I am 100% confident the 488VS will deliver!!

I think we have McLaren to thank for the fact the 488 GTO(not) will deliver as without that impressive and fierce competition, I am sure it would have been launched last year. Given the now competition, there simply would be no point them producing anything other than a barn storming car. Thank you McLaren.

Ferrari don't have a choice and anything less than a spectacular car will mean major loss in brand and sales IMO. So "rise to the occasion" Ferrari :)

Disagree. The 488 was not spectacular and Ferrari did just fine and they will continue. Mac treats you like a king and Ferrari a servant. And they continue to do well. The 488 mid is not an LE so its no big deal. And the LE will be sold out no matter what it costs or looks like. Same will be the Aperta and the Aperta LE and so on. Don't underestimate Ferrari's ability to sell cars. The brand is the strongest in the world.

I suppose to each their own. What appeals to one person certainly may not to someone else, of course. So, if you're not a fan of the 488 there's nothing wrong with that. But, as has been mentioned countless times throughout a multitude of threads, the car has been heralded as a remarkable achievement and a class leader by virtually every authority across the globe. From the time it was revealed it set the standard in its segment. Obviously, as an owner of a 488 GTB, I'm a huge fan of both its design and performance. However, I'm simply noting the obvious, not even stating an opinion. Given that it is universally regarded as the benchmark in its segment, I have no doubt whatsoever that the 488 GTO will be phenomenal.

I'm looking forward to a new, fresh design, that isn't a horrible evolution of the great 458. But, sadly, I'm not optimistic given the departure from Pininfarina and NA cars. I think the best are behind us.
