Sorry, the standard Downdraft would be 185.169 electronically timed in Germany by Auto Motor und Sport, @ Spring 1985, using the red/back Downdraft with standard engine & boxed muffler.

Martini's Downdraft had blueprinted engine, sport cams, and spaced air-box, let's face it, the only people who don't belive that Martini's Countach hit 195 are Fuelie owners  ;)

You're mistaken, Valentino says none of the things you claim he said, in fact he specifically makes it clear that your claims are your own misinterpreted story. Just because you sit down at dinner with your wife and a third party, take a picture of it and post it here, does not mean your story has any truth. Have Valentino come on here or go on the record anywhere and support what you claim he said. It is truly sad that someone would use a person like Valentino for their own personal agenda.

You're mistaken again, a liar would be someone who makes a post claiming someone said something they didn't ;)

Sorry, yet again, that's 185.169 electronically timed in Germany by Auto Motor und Sport, Spring 1985, using the red/back Downdraft with standard engine & boxed muffler, I'll post the relevant page as soon as I find it, I'll get right on it

You sir are one crazy mofo on the Autobahn, I know this because 10 years ago I tried to follow you in another quick Downdraft from Zurich to St Moritz  :D all I saw were flames in the distance.

Your notion that a winged Downdraft would only achieve 166 is baloney, but at least you are consistent.

Using Leitz Correvitz electronic timing, a winged & box-mufflered Downdraft with standard non-blueprinted engine achieved @ 180 mph at Brutingthorpe, and if you know anything at all about test locations, you'll know that conditions there were far from ideal!

Obviously, because even though you posted a random picture of a person of color, we all don't look alike, here are a couple of rare but recent pics of me so you'll know who I am if you see me coming ;) https://www.flickr.com/photos/joesackeyclassics/33803962994/in/photostream/

Meanwhile, I swear when Stella barks it sounds like she is saying 'Downdraft'! :D I guess we know which she prefers.

On another subject, during the GTO vs Downdraft magazine photoshoot last week, after the extensive driving scenes, the Countach suffered a steering issue, and we are performing minor surgery on it to regain precision steering, more on this after the holidays.

Despite all the spirited debates over performance statistics, what car is best, what's more valuable or what is more desired, yet still the common thread is we are all car enthusiasts, and believe it or not I appreciate all Countachs, so with that said, Happy Holidays to one & all!

    very nice picture! :)
2 legends of the mid 80's and good rivals : from period tests the performance of quattrovalvole and GTO were very close in acceleration and top speed

from the specs the GTO may be better on a lap time, since is lighter and weight means a lot on the track but i have never been so lucky to drive one
still the countach design is much more special to me ...countach quattrovalvole is still the winner of this pic to me!

Merry Christmas to everybody, all good fun, keep the replies above the belt Great pictures, I was lucky enough to drive a GTO, not flat out,but as hard as i wanted acceleration vice, My car felt quicker, and more brutal, neck snapping,if you like. That beeing said,to me, the two had a lot in common in smell, feel and overall period sense. Very good looking, but lacks drama,

Amazing how low the Countach sits in versus the GTO.

Hello everybody, many thanks and compliments for this thread, just want to bring my small contribution with Rosberg's car, pics taken from Prestige which was Achilli Motors magazine,
showing Keke taking delivery of the car in Milano, and a picture of the car nearby his jet (with helmet logo on the tail)
    cheers

Ciao Emilio, enough talk about numbers, when are you coming to California my friend?

I hope you are taking care of that LP400S I sent you meanwhile.

Happy Holidays, I am officially done for the year, so I have much more time for spirited debates! What would you like to discuss? :) That said, I can tell you that it takes more than 1 or 2 drives to learn how to use the GTO's performance, and I can also tell you that if it is operating to full boost (many don't) you better hang on! That thing only weighs only 2,800 lbs and you can feel it wants to remind you of that at all times. It's a real wolf in sheep's clothing.

With the GTO you just hop inside a sports car, with the Countach you take a deep breath and lower yourself into a spaceship. That's the difference I feel.

Roberto, what a great first post!

    Welcome and Happy Holidays.

Your images may have sealed the deal for a client of mine interested in the Rosberg Downdraft, please contact me directly on [email protected], I'd like to get a scan of all pages of that issue of the magazine or purchase it in it's entirety.

    Thanks!

Putting aside the 166mph Top speed run posted by the DD in Car And Driver ( the same car you FALSELY claim with your QUOTED sources as being owned by Ford, and being tested at Ford. Just because you say it, doesn't make it true) lets go with the Sport Auto Test. If you think blueprinting a motor, cams, and a spaced airbox will give enough power to propel a Countach a full 10mph faster, dont forget to leave your milk and cookies out for Santa Claus.

As for Valentino, his statement that I provided is 100% truth. And its laughable that the guy who pays Valentino for his own personal agenda would accuse another person of just that.

To this day you still dont know the difference between a muffler, and catalytic converters. You constantly refer to the F/I Countach only reaching 160mph... Please show us where?

Last but not least... LOL at you for trying to make my picture comment of one of the most used memes on the Internet racial. The meme is called THE SKEPTICAL KID.

Sounds hypocritical.....Would be interesting if Valentino would come on this forum to back up all the claims that Joe makes about the sub-standard and disgraceful performance that the QV FI car exhibited back in the day :)

  25. Lol. In the spirit of Christmas let's just skip the fi vs carb debate for awhile, and enjoy discussing our favorite marque.
