I'm rigging up my new scuba tank for testing tomorrow at Middle Harbour ................... work is for the poor
Great, so someone from our Queensland section will be called out to rescue an idiot in tracksuit pants who forgot to turn on the air on his scuba tank. I’ll send them a heads-up.
I have had the rescue chopper out looking for me off Stradbroke Island back in '88 ........... got trapped in an underwater cave and mate called the chopper in ...... it's a long story but the short of it is that I survived with the needle deep into the red and a lot of skip breathing going on
Don't you love it when you order a part from OS, and Customs decide its "Customs Value" is $1040, so.. Here. Have a bill for another $260. Merry Christmas! Yay!
Presumably all the extra charges etc. kick in at $1k. So, they add another ~25% to the cost and hold on to it till you pay. I ordered a new flywheel from Hill Engineering.
I bought something the other day via eBay that had their Global Shipping Program determine the import duty and that was charged separately by eBay. Hope I don’t get pinged again when it arrives in the country
You’ll probably be ok in that case. Although you never know... It’s a pretty stupid system where the “customs value” can be $995 and it’s waved through, but if they determine it’s $1005 that’ll be another 25% thanks!
That's rough glad my two purchase from eurospares were seperate and just under,I never knew this existed, great!
Australia currently has a $1000 threshold for charging GST on imports (since the introduction of the GST) As soon as the value of the shipment including freight exceeds $1000 you are charged GST, a processing fee by the shipper ( $70 ) and a customs entry fee($ 70 ), which adds up to around $ 240 for a $1000 dollar import, so yes, its about a 25% additional cost. Now the big news is that the GST threshold will be reduced to zero from July 1 next year, so everything is going to be subject to the processing fees and customs entry charges. https://www.ato.gov.au/General/New-legislation/In-detail/Indirect-taxes/GST/GST-on-low-value-imported-goods/ BTW, Gerry Harvey was a big agitator behind this lesiglation. M
Well you can because he has had it good for sooooo many years.......He is a billionaire.....It's called competition.......
Thanks Mike. Gerry Harvey is a ****. My invoice shows that as of 1 Jan 2016 the entry fee is $83. So, on my $1040 part the fees are 5% duty = $52 + the $83 entry fee, plus $122 GST for a total extra of $257. And if my part was valued $41 less the bill would have been zero.
And the best bit is every part will have an entry fee so a $10 part will have a $83 dollar fee.. and thats happening now
