I am selling my 1993 Mercedes Benz 300CE Cabriolet, which is the actual car used during filming of the movie "The Firm" with Tom Cruise. You can read more about the car on the eBay listing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-300CE-Movie-Car-Driven-by-Tom-Cruise-in-The-Firm-1993-Mercedes-Benz-300CE-/281268733518?forcerrptr=true&hash=item417cec464e&item=281268733518&pt=US_Cars_Trucks I have attached a couple of pictures. The car didn't sell so I relisted it. Asking $27,500, but open to offers. Mercedes Benz E Class 300CE | eBay
Nice car, they were very expensive in their day and kept their value for many years after production end. I believe they will be very collectible one day. Neat story behind yours. GLWS
No offense, but you should try re-listing it for $10-15k. You might actually sell it for around that. Good luck!
Thanks for the comments. I have some flexibility on the price, but I am not going to come down to $10-15k as I really like the car and I would rather keep it at that price.
I relisted it on ebay, but I'll offer a bottom line price to FCHAT members - $19,900 "Firm" Mercedes Benz E Class 300CE | eBay
KBB shows value a t just under 8k. I'm sorry but 11k more because it was in a tom cruise movie? Your way off New buyer would have a hard time insuring it for 19k. Even 15k for that matter. Classic scenario that you think your car is worth more than what it really is. All good though. If you enjoy it keep it. I wouldn't pay that kind of money. NADA has it at 12.8k retail. R
Car has been featured on several websites: For $27,500, Will This Soft-Top Benz Make Your Firm? 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300CE Cabriolet as featured in ?The Firm? | German Cars For Sale Blog as well as some other sites. By the way, KBB is low here. You don't get a nice, well maintained cabriolet for $8k. Hagery shows cond. 3: $8,900, cond 2: $14,200, cond. 1 $18,900. Condition has a pretty significant effect on prices on cars like these that are now 20 years old. In any event, this is the best price. If it doesn't sell, I am happy to keep it. These are wonderful, reliable cars that are easy to get parts for and easy to maintain in my experience.
I relisted the car here for $19,900, no reserve: Movie Car from "The Firm" Tom Cruise 1993 Mercedes Benz 300CE Cab No Reserve | eBay Thanks.
I really like those. Great cars when Mercedes built great cars. Bit out of my price range at the moment for somthing like that, If I was in your shoes I would keep it and drive it.
From what you describe in your ad (refreshingly honest ad btw) this is a condition 2 car because of the repaint and miles. Assuming Hagertys numbers are market correct that would make this car worth around $14k. I don't honestly think the movie aspect gives any added value. At least not to me. There are lower miles 300CE Cabriolets for sale now with lower miles and original paint etc for the same as your asking if not slightly lower. I am looking for one of these..as they are great overall cars and should retain value. Hope this helps.
I don't get what the point is of giving him a hard time on the asking price. It's his car. He can ask for $1M if he wants. Why does this seem to illicit heckling? Especially odd responses considering he already stated that he's happy to keep the car if it doesn't turn out to be a must buy for someone else. Best of luck with the sale!
^ Every car forum I have ever been on people like to get in their two cents on car values. It comes with the territory of posting a classified. You just need to hold your ground, which is what the OP is doing. Good for him and if it doesn't sell than it wasn't meant to be and just enjoy it.
Thanks for the comments. I realize that the movie history adds value for some people, but for many people it doesn't. Hopefully, I will find the right buyer, but if not I am happy to just keep it.
I think those cars are poorly made and I would take the first offer. Good luck on the sale and don't hold my opinion as it worth anything.
Car is still available. A few people have asked if the car has had its engine wiring harness replaced as the original harnesses were made to be biodegradable, which means they degrade and fail. I did a visual check on the engine harness and the date code shows that it has in fact been replaced with a newer version of the harness. Thanks for looking.
Car is back up for sale. Just replaced the A/C compressor and all the hydraulic top cylinders this past year. The A/C is now working again and the top functions perfectly. Open to offers. Thanks.
