This one appears to have had the frighteningly expensive transaxle rebuild.....or am I mistaken and Ferrari had sorted it by '92?
Here's another one,at CTS,I don't think it's been here before. http://classicthrottleshop.com/1992-ferrari-348-ts/
Ha ha that WAS mine...... sold 2 days after I took it to my mechanic to have a couple of his contacts have a look at it. I never advertised it. First guy who came the next day, bought it. He did get a great car. That 348 was near perfect condition. [emoji106] Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
BTW I’m referring to the one for $150k not the other one ! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
must say it took a good 3 months to get comfy,it's still nerve wracking and a hell of a rush at high revs, brutal sound !!And it's 17 years old
A question for you guys. Many people have various CS options on their std 360’s. For example on mine there are the grills, dash with yellow tacho, the CS carbon fibre seats and the lovely CS 19” rims. How much of this was a factory fitted option and how much is stuff owners have put on afterwards? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
The CS appeared late in the 360 lifecycle, it's quite unlikely that the grills and wheels on your car are original. The only way you can verify the original specification is by having the original dealer invoice or vehicle order. That's one reason why complete history files are important for Ferraris - a car without one is already open to question. A coloured tach face was available on any 360, it's not limited to the CS. Ditto CF seats. Many 360's have been dressed up with CS grills and wheels, often reproduction items and a car that is "as delivered" will be more valuable and saleable in the long run. You might want to check that your rims are road-legal, before having an accident and having your claim denied. Most policies ask you to declare modifications: photograph the wheels, including the manufacturer stamp, and send to your insurer.
Thanks for that. My car is a Dec 2004 release date (I think manufactured in Aug 2004) so not sure what are original factory options and what was not. Does the factory itself keep data on cars if you have the VIN etc. Can you get details on what was shipped from the factory at the time? I know with my 74 Alfa Montreal which I had for some 14 years you could get that information from a special register that the factory ran.
I suggest you post that question in the 360 section. As a rule, Ferrari are not very helpful with free records - they ask you to pay $6000-ish to have the car Classiche certified via your local dealer.
Isn’t there someone in the UK that can provide records for Australian delivered cars ? Or is that information only available for cars older than the 360 series ? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Are you talking about the grille at the back of the car? I thought it was a challenge grille, not a CS.
I've struggled to get info on my Aussie 308 from them...So it's still hit and miss....Just ask Carl....He seemed to know more......
Only up to the point where Ronnie Hoare's Maranello Concessionaires Ltd had international rights to RHD cars. That ended in the late 80's (as I recall the 348 was the last model they were involved with) thereafter Ferrari appointed different importers for Australia, until they took it over directly in 2013. From the outset, Ferrari never cared too much about the people who bought their volume models, and things only got worse as manufacturing volumes increased. They didn't care about the dealers, they weren't worried about providing parts support, their job was to maximise profits like any other business. The dealers who were sacked probably chucked their records in a skip. What records Ferrari have they sell as part of Classiche Certification, why would they give anything away for free? People who've been around the marque for a while know the value of buying a car with complete and documented history (not to mention books & tools) because once that's lost its seldom recoverable.
Yes, CS grille is slightly different to the optional "Challenge" grille. Also the front grilles and exhaust surrounds are unique to CS. Anyone who owns a real CS can spot a fake from across the street. Similar to the people who rushed to put deep front spoilers on 308's back in the 80's, an original and un-messed-with car is much more desirable now.
btw, if you're an FCA member, we can usually track previous owners of a car, we have about 75% of cars in our database. We don't give out details (for privacy reasons) but will ask previous owners to help if they're interested. In my experience, most people are happy to help.
Yes both the back and front grilles I’m referring to. Can be ‘challenge’ grille as a factory option. I only have the black rear grill. Wasn’t aware the CS was different again. Will have to look at some pics on the net. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
We were Ian but missed just about all events because I was always OS working......Then one year didn't bother renewing and here we are today......I should consider renewing again...I have the complete history of the car in Tassie , Vic , WA but can't find the history in NSW from 1981 to 1990.......
