Hi as many here have done in the past ( great info), I started on my major today. Took of the bottom plates and made a wooden support/frame for the engine. As i don't have much time it will be a project for some months. Kee you posted.
Grts Patrick
My Flemish is limited(spent time in Beerse and Antwerpen) but that is a great solution to use a Scissor Jack like that for an Engine Out. I was planning on either using my four post or buy a second 2 post. Danke wel for sharing.
A 2 post is best of course, but i can't drill holes in the floor. A high scissor is second best , but to expensive so third choice is a small scissor. Beerse ?? , You worked for Janssen ? I live at 8 km from Antwerpen to the North.
Concrete blocks, very unsafe way to support a car during repair, because they can effectively shatter without warning. This is well known. .Please find yourself some jackstands (also known as axle stands). Best of luck, John
Thx John I will remove them because my scissor lift is on the way. I have jackstands but not that high.
Cleaning and painting bottom panels. Sh*t job. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Made a degree wheel from a 10 '' cutting disk. Clear coat made the paper a bit transparent but will do fine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have to replace the 2 oil tubes to and from the oil reservoir. I assume they transport no pressurised oil ? Only flow.
And up she go's. Weight balance is very unstable when lifting on the jack points ! Front is very light. I don't think it will flip but i have to put weight in the front or tie it down. Not going to work on it like this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Worked some more on the engine out this morning. Really surprised how easy it all go's . !! Ferrari did a great job designing this car. Foto's are in random order. I love seeing DIY threads like this on these cars - but I have one piece of huge advice: Lay those wheels/tires DOWN! Mounted wheels/tires have a tendency to fall over or roll away without provocation, and they ALWAYS fall of the face of the rim. You don't want to add 'refinish wheels' to the final tally of a major service.
