Hey guys !! I tried doing a search but could not find the process how to open the exhaust valves on the 575. I own a 360 Modena and it is pretty easy to unplug the electric actuators for the exhaust valves (if you decide you will keep them open you need to plug the plastic solenoids in order not to lose vacuum ) My friend who owns a 575 wanted to open his exhaust valves and I thought to ask you guys here. Is it easy to do in the 575 as well , or do you need to take the car to a mechanic ? Feel free to give me ideas and post photos too...
Very simple. Disconnect the short hose (26) that goes from the Exhaust Bypass Solenoid (27) to the T connector (25) at the T connector that goes to the actual pneumatic valves on the tailpipes. Disconnect the long hose (6) that goes from the vacuum accumulator (1) in the engine compartment to the Exhaust Bypass Solenoid (27) at the solenoid and connect it to the T connector (25). Loop the short hose (26) back to the Exhaust Bypass Solenoid (27) and use it to plug the other hose connection so nothing fouls the solenoid. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Taz, Quick question (that can be helpful): are the valves on the exhaust designed to help keep back pressure at low revs for better torque/engine performance, or are they only designed for noise reduction at low revs/speeds? Thank you so much! Matthew
Also possibly for emmisions since most emissions we set to be done at low enough rpm that the exhaust valves would not be open and you would only be checking through the primary cats. I edited because the 575 only has primary cats so as Taz stated previously was obvious answer.
The 575M has four precats and two primary cats. The exhaust bypass valves are way in the back of a 550 or 575, unlike the F355, and have no affect on cats or emissions, whether open or closed. All the bypass valves do is provide a lower backpressure exit for the exhaust when open. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
