Since my car is in winter storage I was thinking of getting a assortment of the original type fuses as spares. Since I still have original fuse blocks and have not updated.
Does anyone know what amps I should get as spares / 8amp 16 amp etc? Also are they ceramic or plastic ? I have seen these on autoparts websites. Does it matter? and I would guess a 12v fuse correct?

    Mike,

I've replaced my blocks with modern, but still have all the older original fuses. You're welcome to them if you want them.

Actually still fairly available, they simply call them "Euro" style fuses.

I have a loose set of blocks, can answer your question on Amp sizes tomorrow.

They're the old white & red ones - plastic (looking) casings with copper cores, I believe. They were all intact when I pulled them, and actually the fuse box didn't have any hot-spots or melting. I just wanted to upgrade to modern fuses.

thx big tex thx for the condolences. Yes they are the plastic ones. I'm familiar with them ,its just since sam sasprunoff is no longer making any new blocks, [ I contacted him], and the birdman boxes are great but don't accept the stock covers. ill make due for now with some fuses for backup and check the rivets occasionally. Is it possible to solder the rivets? btw what are the fuse amps?

wow I didn't even remember that the amps are marked on top of the covers . I just did a 2 yr mechanical and body resto and a lot of things have slipped my mind! After 16-17 yrs of ownership I would think I would remember that! thx Dom!!

Disappointed to hear Sam Sasprunof is no longer making the fuse boxes. I was planning on replacing mine in the GT4 once the engine was done.

I think my QV only used 8 and 16 amps. One is red and the other white. Yeah, you can still find them in most parts stores, Amazon, etc. I was surprised they weren't more rare.
