It's rare we have "real" performance measures for a new Ferrari, but the Italian magazine Quattroruote managed to do so and even have a lap time on their 3,500 m (2.715 mile) in Vairano (details here: http://www.gdecarli.it/php/circuit.php?var1=1225&var2=2).

Here are some numbers measured at 20 degrees Celsius (68 F) and track temperature at 23 degrees (73.4 F) C, 81m altitude 266 feet): so pretty much normal temperatures at almost sea level.

These were measured on the factory tyres:
    Pirelli PZero Corsa
    Front: 275/35ZR20 102Y
    Rear: 315/30ZR20 106Y

    Max Velocity: 342.4 kph (212.76 mph) @ 7,800 rpm.

    Acceleration:
    0-60 km/h 1,7 s
    0-100 km/h 3,0 s (0-62 mph)
    0-120 km/h 3,7 s
    0-130 km/h 4,1 s
    0-150 km/h 5,0 s
    0-160 km/h 5,5 s
    0-180 km/h 6,7 s
    0-200 km/h 8,1 s
    0-220 km/h 9,7 s
    0-240 km/h 11,7 s
    0-260 km/h 14,1 s
    0-280 km/h 17,0 s
    0-300 km/h 21,4 s
    400m standing start (quarter Mile): 10,4 secs @ 227,3 kph (141.24 mph)
    1000m standing start 18,6 secs @ 286,6 kph (178.08 mph)

    Roll-on (7th gear/Drive) in secs
    70-90 km/h 3,2/1,9
    70-120 km/h 7,3/3,1
    70-130 km/h 8,6/3,5

    Braking:
    meters & G force from 100 km/h
    36,3 m, 1,08 G.
    meters & G force from 200 km/h
    136,5 m, 1,15 G

    Lap Time:
    1'12''177 (all aids off)
    1'14''410 (race mode)
They say the car is just under 2 sec/lap faster than the F12

For comparison (note that these times may not be under the same weather/track temperature):
    1. Huracán Performante 1:09.43
    2. Porsche 918 Spyder 1:09.54

    7. Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse 1:11.85
    8. Ferrari 812 Superfast 1:12.18

    21. Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 1:13.86
    22. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta 1:14.08

    Very interesting other measures too:
    Weight: 1.843 kg (4,063 lbs)!
Distribution: 47% front and 53% rear

    Car as quick as expected.

The 0 to 100 km an hour is not that impressive, I guess it has a hard time hooking up with all that power and rear wheel drive only.

The 0 to 160 km time of 5.5 seconds is very quick and so is the 1/4 mile time and mph.

4000 pound weight is a little disappointing. At the car would’ve been later than that.

812 is a great GT car.

    Wow, almost 4100 lbs!

The idea that they ruined the shape of the car with questionable design details in order to gain a few lbs of downforce on a 4100 lbs car is just mind boggling.

    Any "aero-efficiency" argument is laughable.

If only manufacturers would make the cars smaller and lighter . The chase for power is getting silly, get rid of 250 kg instead. In the Ferrari case, 599/F12/TDF/812 are big big cars ( in UK on our tiny roads you really feel it) , legislation, luxury fittings whatever have driven vehicle size and weights.

0-160 km/h in 5.5 seconds with 1843 kg is mind blowing . What an engine. ( can we have it in a car weighting 400 kg less that does not cost 2M plus - on the never going to happen dream list)

The weight is disappointing indeed. I think Ferrari should start making a carbon Fiber chassis for their top cars in order to keep weight in check.

Thanks Chanh for the test data.

Did the report indicate the number of kilometres covered on the odometer.

Curb weight is 1630 Kg / 3594 lbs, hence at 1843 Kg / 4063 lbs the car was tested two up.

Keep in mind that Quattroruote test drivers say that the cars during their performance tests usually have about 200 KGs of "ballast" (between fluids, full fuel tank, 75 KGs of driver per 156/70 CEE regulations and their own data recording instruments).

    Tank capacity is 92 litres= 67 Kg.
    1843 - 67= 1776 - 150 Kg (Driver + Passenger)= 1626 Kg which is close to Curb Weight* of 1630 Kg.
    * Includes all fluids except Gasoline.

What is really impressive is the performance of the 488!

Just goes to show how well that model has become. And points to how quick the 488 GTO will be.

Getting back to the 812. 2 seconds faster than the F12 is impressive.

But ithe way forward is going to be by losing weight. If the special limited Edition 812M is going to be one with an open top /Aperta
I doubt that saving weight will be a priority for that model.

But the new next gen replacement for the 812 will most likely be lighter. Perhaps it will be a smaller car. Perhaps a smaller 12 in terms of disc placement . But adding a hybrid system will add weight. So I expect more use of carbon and not just for the money making cosmetic trim pieces.body panels and door skins and roof. All places except the tub since Ferrari have said time and time again that the CF tub will only be used on the Halo model.

Ferrari have pioneered complex castings which reduce weight and enhance rigidity and strength with the Portofino. So perhaps this strategy will be employed .

But where else can weight be shed. The EPAS perhaps points to other systems . Perhaps the HVAC system can be lightened. Radiators and maybe even the exhaust system starting with manifolds pipes and muffler.

We should keep in mind that the Vairano track is very twisty and low speed, thus lending itself to smaller cars and especially 4WD. The faster cars cannot really take advantage of their power.

Also comparing times achieved on different days and sometimes by different drivers is very difficult.

Remember Quattroruote weighs the cars with all test equipment fitted.

It's an "as tested" weight, a figure only useful for comparison with other Quattroruote tests.

Thanks. Fun to get a virtual hot lap.
As others have pointed out, this track, as the Handling moniker implies, doesn’t allow for much high speed driving.
But the 812 does out do the F12 by 2 seconds. Perhaps it the rear wheel steering which creates most of the advantage on this track.

Correct. The magazine also claims that the F12 had "normal" PZeros (not Corsa).

Can I ask where you found the 812 lap time at Fiorano?
I recall seeing this time on FChat but haven’t found it anywhere else.

That's also my understanding. The 488 on the other hand was on semis (Cup 2).

Interesting to know how it fared against the tdf. Marginally slower to 200kph but would love to know if tdf still a bit quicker or not on a comparable lap aside from what Ferrari tell us.

I would like to see a picture of the driver's after driving each car. When watching auto reviews I look for how much of a smile is on the driver's face. For me that is just as telling as the numbers, sometimes even more so.

Tim I'm afraid there aren't yet any independent numbers that would enable to compare lap times of the Tdf versus the 812 in a same circuit. For instance we know the 812 lapped Vairano (2,8 Km long 16 turns) in 1:12.18 and the Tdf lapped SpaFrancorchamps (7.004 Km long 19 turns) in 2:42.40. Despite of the fact that the two circuits are completely different, we have some cars which have done times in both so below you have the lap times of the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren 675 LT giving an idea of the differences.

Well.. I don't think this list is very accurate, a 430 Scuderia at Spa is faster than a Laf of 8 seconds? I think is quite strange.. And also at Vairano there are 2 seconds of difference between an LT and an LT spyder? Honestly i would not consider this lap times at all :D

I note a number of the drivers are down as 'unknown' which tends to back up your point. A 430 Scud quicker than a tdf?

I've seen the lists several times before and I always thought the lap times were official. Nonetheless after Pierlu 99 pointed that the 430 Scuderia at Francorchamps is faster than the TDF and LF I looked at the lists in more detail and I agree with you both something isn't right. Last year in a Ferrari track day at Estoril I raced with my F12 against a 430 Scuderia driven by a very good race driver which kept teasing me. I was impressed how fast the Scuderia was specially in the curves but on the long straight it hadn't the slightest chance against the F12. The only possible explanation for these Francorchamps incongruent lap times is that some of them were probably made by pro racing drivers and others by normal drivers.
