What a mess at JFK this week with a water leak today. I saw several international diversion aircraft still at ORD today due to the NYC weather last week.
We had a similar collision on Friday. It sparked a small fire on one of the aircraft. The scary thing for me is how long they took to evacuate--taking videos, getting luggage, etc. A fire on a plane is probably one of my most motivational running aids.
Things seem a bit sideways there lately. But I've been in and out a few times lately with the usual Terminal 1 headaches, so all is good I guess. Lol
I used to fly a lot out of JFK when traveling between NYC and PR back in the sixties, but not much in recent years. To me demolishing the Pan Am Worldport was almost as bad a case of architectural vandalism as the demolition of Penn Station back in the sixties. At least they saved the old TWA building. These incidents seem to happen far more at JFK than at any other airport. Is that really the case?
Agree... I also think the construction of the PanAm building (now Met Life) in NYC is just as big a travesty. And Penn Station demo - terrible.
I could accept the Pan Am building because they did not tear down Grand Central (as they were threatening to do) to build it. The demolition of Penn Station had a good long-term effect in that it woke a lot of people up, and laws were passed that saved Grand Central and other such buildings in the later years. Converting the Post Office building to the "new" Penn Station isn't a perfect solution, but it is a step in the right direction.
