Even though my expectations were not very high, MBZ managed to come in below them......and now I realize why the new truck looks so much like most of the Japanese/Korean/Chinese/Indian pickup trucks; it's little more than a half-baked Nissan......and won't be available in the US......probably just as well.....

Mobuno Urban Mobility Concept Vehicle – Futuristic Yet Realistic Projec

XOIO and IUM (Institute of Urban Mobility) have teamed up to design a futuristic vehicle for our future: Mobuno. It’s a conceptual urban mobility yet highly realistic idea, the goal of this project was to blend all those great benefits of current means of transportation into one. User can book Mobuno privately just like any regular taxi for private use, connection with mobile communication devices are used for all communication just like usual.

Mobuno is designed to accommodate up to four persons, they can use this compact car simultaneously. Just in case you don’t mind sharing a ride, you can also switch to “Shared” mode, Mobuno will then act as a bus smartly responding to the requests of other users. In this way, all users would enjoy the benefit of lower costs.

Hanging out with several friends or multiple family members won’t be a problem, simply book and tell the operator how many people would go along then it’ll send as many units as required. Smart platooning will also allow effectiveness by combining units into an energy efficient queue. Mobuno from XOIO offers public transportation better than trains and busses.

The smart system of Mobuno can decide when it’s time this car needs to be fueld, cleaned, and maintained, it’ll automatically look for closes service point. The smart artificial intelligent also allows Mobuno to learn patterns of requests so that the network can smartly distribute units to a certain location where they are needed the most.

Due to its super compact size, this vehicle can squeeze tightly together, it doesn’t require much parking space.

Unlike bangle's folded foam core design, this one looks like an amusement park ride  Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hey what's the latest with the CA studios? They were all the rage in the 90's but it seems like several companies pulled out. Is NDI still doing stuff? How about the US brands? I assume the European brands (VW/Audi, Volvo, BMW) and the Japanese brands (Toyota, Honda) still have working studios in SoCal. Yes, no?

I was able to take a limited tour of BMW Designworks back in the day, met Chuck Pelly. Large full color sketches, 1/4 scale clay models, material swatches on the wall. I was in design heaven.

See what I mean about the looming competition to Tesla? I'm afraid they are about to get attacked from all sides (Volvo, US brands, Chinese, Koreans, etc.) I would be surprised if they are a viable brand in 20 years. Maybe autonomy will keep the barbarians from knocking down the castle walls. But that is a lot of competition to defend against.

I believe for the most part they're all still going strong. Ford/GM still have their studios. Calty(Toyota) and NDI (Nissan) are still going strong. Mitsubishi/Mazda are still there.Mercedes/BMW/Audi still have a presence. The Chinese are making moves to open satellite studios as well.

I've long been a fan of Citroen, particularly the DS. This showcar nails it for me. I think it's very cool without being too 'retro'
The Citroen DS is one of the most iconic cars of all time so it takes a brave person to attempt to revamp it for the 21st century. However, French designer Jean-Louis Bui has had a go and has come up with something that is going to get Citroen fans talking.

Bui has close to three decades of car designing and now works at Paris-based prototype Etud-Integral. He made the decision to put forward a new image of the Citroen DS as part of the car’s 60th anniversary. As well as referencing the DS, Bui’s design also features elements of the SM and CX.

The DS was the first mass produced car to feature disc brakes and was the result of a collaborative project between Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer Andre Lefebvre.

Over 1,455,746 cars were sold and the DS was a key part of Citroen’s line-up from 1955 to 1975.

Strangely I find that its best view may be the rear 3/4. Agree that the front is not its best.

It does look sort of French, unlike the blobs Citroen has been doing lately. Yes that front looks rather ugly. They need to put a lot more effort into the bumper/grill. After all the original DS was an aero design way ahead of it's time. Can't say the new design looks like it would slip thru the air much better than the 1955 design. I can see a pedestrian getting caught and killed between those two bumper things on the front of the new design !! On the original a pedestrian would fly over the car if hit. Who the hell comes up with these dump bumper/headlight height rules??

Always liked the Allante. I remember seeing plane loads of them being offloaded at ORD from Alitalia 747F's and being trucked to Detroit for final assembly. That was not cheap.
