And for the GTB crowd, how about this 95 red/black 23k miles that only got pulled a $60k bid. https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0118-321601/1995-ferrari-f355-berlinetta/ 23,202 original miles 3.5L DOHC V-8 engine Corsa stainless exhaust with stage 2 mufflers Updated OE aluminum cool reservoir New OE speed sensor Hill Engineering 20mm spacers and extended bolts 30 amp fan fuse upgrade 6-speed manual transmission Gated shifter Rosso Corsa with Nero leather interior Scuderia shields Challenge rear grille Books, tools and manuals Recent engine-out service performed at a cost of $24,000 Over $40,000 in service records++ There were a couple of other spiders that pulled bids of $50k and $60k but no sales. 308s were pulling $70k.
Believed to be actual miles Perhaps thst odometer didnt match the rest of the car? And its a spider theres no shortage of them. How many GTS were for sale?
Im not sure why anyone sells a 355/348 at mecum or barrett . I have never seen a decent price for one of those there.
They frequently say that. Probably to remove liability when mileage can not be independently verified.
I really don't know why people keep saying that. Prices for 348/355 at those houses are not out of line. And if you look at the prices the Mecum pulled for real collector Ferraris they aren't out of line either. They had 36 Ferraris at Kissimmee. They pulled between 60 and 70 k for 308s. Two above 70, one at 60. The problem with 348 and 355 is that after the run up people around here just aren't willing to accept what the true current values are if you really want to move one.
Quick look I can see the RH headlight is lower than the hood. Not sure why. Its missing heat sheild in the engine bay. Seat lower center is shrunk quite a bit. It's no cream puff.
I think just about all of these are 30s and 40s. You can sell your car there, I wont be. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/97-f355-gtb-gated-sells-on-mecum-for-32k.483875/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mecum-f355-spider-for-35k.457929/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferraris-mecum.425139/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mecum-auction-355.276361/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/355-sells-for-49k-mecum.556945/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/355-spider-at-mecum-auction.444043/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mecum-auction-355.276361/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mecum-auction-1992-348ts-sold-for-36-000.506044/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-spider-sold-at-mecum-indy-yesterday.552460/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/145535699/ And this was only the first 2 pages of results, there were dozens
Main reason people say that is the venue is not what they specialize in - therefore they won't attract as many buyers looking for F-cars... That's all. They can pull numbers all over the map. Some good, some bad. This is going off of past performance. No wrong answer - just most buyers and sellers will gravitate to the auction specialties for certain marques. Robb
What venue is specialized in 355s? The 348/355 is currently pretty much at the bottom of the Ferrari food chain. The reasons have been discussed here at end; perceive reliability and maintenance costs. And I repeat, for an auction that doesn't specialize in exotics, they pulled some big numbers for other F cars, 1.3M for an 016 F12tdf. And even 71.5k for an 81 308 GTSi, probably the least sought after 308. No, the F cars at Mecum sold for what they would sell for at any auction. Time to stop making excuses. And frankly Robb, I'd be looking to put something other than a 355 in that new garage. It's just not worthy. Now this is a garage suitable for a 355. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, that garage is PERFECT, there's probably a GTO behind that left door, did you look? I've pulled cars out of garages like that....let's see... 1964 Elva Courier Coupe (1 of 7), 1957 Austin healey 100-6, 1971 GTX... what about that aluminum daytona?? The garage looked only a little better than that. sjd off to find an episode of "The barn find hunter" on youtube.
I really, really would love to know your motivation behind the endless attacks on a car you own. It's just bizarre.
Obviously the garage was obviously humor. The statement is reasonable. Other than a poor looking 360 that didn't sell at 45k and a Mondial which didn't sell at 23k, the 2 348 (mid 40k) and 4 355 (60k or less) garnered the lowest bids, sale or no sale, for the Ferraris offered. As I said, 308s were going to 70+k and a nice 360 F1 spider when for 93.5k. So, like it or not, at the bottom. Not motivation, observation.
BS. Lowest on the food chain is different than lowest prices at a muscle car auction. Is the 355 "lower" than a 308 GT4? That is rhetorical since I know better than to engage in this debate with you. You've got more time to devote to this.
I like Johnk's garage humor. Need more lividity on these threads, to many folks taking themselves far too seriously. I like 355s as well I just don't fit in them and don't want to pay maintenance on them but show stopping good looks. I don’t think Mecum garners the Fcar crowd so much. If I had a “rough” Fcar to sell I would use Mecum otherwise not. IMO
I enjoyed my $20k 308 GTBi for quite a few years. No way in hell id pay 70k for it today I just don't get that.
And that is exactly the way I feel about the 355. I bought mine is 2013 for under $60k including shipping from San Diego to Connecticut, and a fresh major with new valves and guides. Today, $60k for a cars as is, plus $12k for the major, plus $2k for shipping, $74k, no thank you.
