Seems like I'm one of the few people that actually like the direction Ferrari is taking. I'm not missing Pininfarina's elegance on this car. I like the fact that Ferrari has taken up the glove to the Performante, GT2RS and 720S and even hints towards the Senna. As ugly as the Senna is, it still is a car designed by form follows function. I like that. Then again, I do track all my Ferrari's, so perhaps I'm not the typical buyer.... Oh, and if anyone is worried about the sound, they clearly have never heard a 488 Challenge....!

Boy the Senna is ugly.........I'm usually not the type of person to be hard on a cars looks but the Senna (and most Mclarens save for the F1/P1) I'm not interested in. Performance wise, we shall see

Very true. At first I wasn't really impressed by the first spy shot I saw..

EXACTLEY!! Once we see the official Ferrari pictures or better yet, Ferrari's lovely launch videos that explain everything from Drivetrain to Aero features about the car, I'm sure we'll all have a better appreciation for it. The F12 tdf in yellow when it was launched magnified its outlandish features which certainly didn't help everyone ease into its new looks from the standard F12.

Truth be told, some modern car designs need a bit of time to soak in. I thought the McLaren P1 was very strange when I first saw it but grew to love it. Same with the new Ford GT. I was let down at first but then I saw it in white with carbon fiber bits everywhere and I fell in love with its design.......colour plays a hug roll in the shape(or how we see the shape) of a vehicle.

My guess is that the spy shot was taken with a hidden camera inside a button or something like that. You have no idea what the photos looks like until you get home and upload them to your computer. Maybe this particular image was the only one worth sharing, as the other ones were pure crap. Who knows.

Ferrari has a history with side mirrors messing with the side intake.
It may have to do with the fact that the mirrors are diverting air to those intakes.

As we know 360 modena side mirrors made the air flow ( at some speeds ) to avoid the sife intakes and so the engine lack some air, resulting in power loss.

Notice the side intake on the 488gto is devided in two, but in a different proportion from the one on the gtb.

The upper part is used to channel air through the rear scoops. The lower one in used for engine.

Worried about 100 pages of speculation? You 'aint seen nothing. There's a whole bunch of specials and LEs coming including, I'm told, a harder-core road going LE coupe version of this very car, which will only be available to Corse participants.

As for the 488 VS and comments about its looks and the "Pinin" days, I think Mr Manzoni and his team are doing a superb job. I can only imagine the skills required today to combine beauty, huge performance, stringent regulatory approvals while not defying the law of physics. Once we're beyond renders and leaked shots, this car will be exceed expectations.

    Forza Ferrari.

Nah, from "For a Few Dollars More", Col. Douglas Mortimer, the wonderfully cool Bounty hunter played by Lee Van Cleef. Growing up in the 70s I loved the Spaghetti Westerns. Waited ages to use that quote here :D

It's dead ugly because it's badly designed. There are a multitude of track cars or even race cars designed for maximum performance and efficiency that look good. The Senna is just ugly.

No problem. Sorry I didn't mean that you should delete the post. Repetition can be a good thing and that pic may remind us why we're in this thread to begin with. Not just to quote Colonel Mortimer or Colonel Angus...

Yes the senna is as ugly as sin.. if McLaren were true about a no compromise track car they’d have built something resembling a single seat f1 car .. with number plates .. but this monstrosity is a joke..

Tdf has spoiled me for all future hipo versions. Tdf was so much more than new bumpers, turbo boost, stiffer suspension, mpsc tires, and no carpet. Looked like completely different car. Dynamics changed from understeer f12 to tail happy tdf through change tire size, geometry, electronics.

Wouldn't mind gto mild changes if didn't cost 100k more to get them. take a 488 add chip/exhaust, lower ride hight, trofeo tires, wing splitter side skirts and have very similar car to gto for fraction cost.

488 not 458 because turbos are easy to tune compared to na motor. And yes I believe a home tuned 488 could be very close to this gto while no one can turn f12 into a tdf. My point is I want ferrari to make this gto as special as the tdf
