Don't worry, every day and all day long there are pro photographers aside the factory gates, so you won't miss anything despite you are on the opposite side of the world... But I could tell you of an interesting TT engine just put on the test bench that has less cylinders than the 488 one, telling you wich car will equip and how much horse power scored: this is not a thing you can see on a picture taken outside the factory gates... ;)

    Ciao

I give up. Maybe they both have the same white and black wrap? Never compare an Laf or variant with any other non-hyper car or variant.

I think it is the angle of view, spoiler is quite high, but the second picture hides it in a relevant way, I bet it is more like in the first you posted, but fixed.

Sure, at the end of the story, it would be disappointing if they didn't export nothing from the XX to the series cars, don't you think?

Agreed, I can't stop searching for a not-ridiculous name, something in the line of 488XX or similar would save the day.

Nah...for me you are not joking.
I think that i know what are you talking about.
6 cilinder turbo, 1.6 litre + hybrid? Haha
My dealer said me that they are developing this engine for the next gen of the 488. Maybe he is wrong...we will see...

    I don't see, I don't hear, I don't speak (and I don't write too).

We still don't know yet if the 488 special version name will be GTO or not, so better concentrating about that

    Ciao

And so after the worshipping of the 458 as the "last NA V8" we could have the 488 as the "last V8" :D
The prestige associated to being the "last" of something always amuses me, since with changes from one car to the next there is always something that makes the older car the last.
Going for 6-cylinder hybrid would make sense for regulations compliance, the V8 is not part of Ferrari's history like the V12.

The rear diffuser assembly looks like two big plates that are separate from the body and movable like the 812.
And looks again like big bulging boxes and angles over lower back like 812 and Portofino.

    If so...God I miss pininfarina.
These styling baubles leave me utterly cold.
I bet we'll all be having discussions soon about which colors hide certain features best. :(

(Btw...is that top picture a Spider?)

What nonsense to say that "I miss Pininfarina"
I do not miss it at all: the search for performance also goes from looking for aerodynamic downforce, I have great confidence in the current team of Ferrari and the idea that everything is born internally, in symbiosis between all departments, is fantastic.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the video. Looks like a targa top from that angle, but it's just camo and shadows that play games with our eyes. And btw, could someone explain or come up with an idea why there are huge panel gaps on the roof?

Whether the V8 remains or not, it's probably going to be the last non-hybrid mid-engined Ferrari regardless? If you search hard enough, you'll find something 'last' with almost any car, relevant or not!

Sorry I was driving and so it would have been very difficult to do. But the car it's exactly the one with the black and white optical camouflage pictured here.

I sadly suspect 488 will be the final opportunity to own a V8 mid mount with SS taking it out in style. The future is looking bleak for the old guard of motoring enthusiasts - more the reason to soak up the 488 as much as possible! So maybe it will be named a GTO after-all...keeping the best for last!

here many are creating news from nothing: all the world knows that Ferrari is developing a new V6 (even the Giulia one is a 488 engine with 2 cylinders less). Ferrari produces Maserati V6 engines since years, but this doesn't mean the V8 will be discontinued. And then who told that the V6 will equip a Ferrari?

    ciao

Cheers to that! Here's to the next V8 then! 4.0 V8 with twin turbo and 8500 screaming rpms!
The bar needs to be raised, not lowered!

That entry, though smaller than on GTB, was used to flow air to the vents adjacent to the rear lights on GTB, presumably for drag reduction.

Here they may be doing the same, that is, feeding the reduced profile vents at the back as sketched by arhimede, but I doubt they would exit at the top surface as shown - there's no real benefit doing this.

What I did note on the presentation slide highlighting the CF parts is that maybe there are some openings on the upper part of the rear spoiler though what their use is I can't guess.
