This photo from Road and Track. The new machine may not be called the GTO, but I have hope it will pack enough punch and enough visual pizzazz to evoke the same WOW factor the 288 still does for me! As seen in the photo, the 488 GTB is a good start in that direction!

I agree. It’s just people talking like they know things but no one does. It’s best to treat this as entertaining rather than informative and enjoy the chatter until late Feb.

Bored? In this thread you learned and saw all the data and slides Ferrari showed to the dealers, the picture of the whole car during the dealers introduction, the selling process, the prototype pictures, production amount (3-4k), options (CF wheels), power (750), even one (me) that told the sound is more metallic and sharper and faster in gaining revs, even very accurate renderings in all colors: What do you wanted to know more than that, the car online configurator? ;)

    Ciao

To me most beautiful thing discovered in the thread so far is the aero efficiency 2.0

What you wrote underscores the issue (and reason for their boredom). The slides and leaked photo were great and super exciting. However, that was about 0.1% of this thread. The rest is people talking like they know something. One post says production is super limited and the factory has already chosen eligible customers. Then, several posts later, someone says (in the same matter of fact tone) that production is 4000. They can’t both be right. Then someone says it’ll be called the GTO and they heard it from a reliable source. Then, just a few posts agosomeone posted, “It won’t be called GTO”. Again, both say it like it’s fact but both can’t be right (and no one really knows).

This thread has been a ton of speculation by people that want to sound in the know (not sure why) with a few great tidbits in between. That’s why the person said they’re bored. If you’re looking for a lot of factual posts then you’ll get bored as they did. If you treat it as entertainment with an occasional nugget of goodness then you’ll enjoy the banter and enthusiasm of everyone here. Just take all the “facts” that lack evidence as opinions.

    No.
That is what I have ben told by a reliable source is what is anticipated after the Dealer presentation but remains unconfirmed.
The one thing I have learnt about Ferrari over the years is that they still have the capacity to surprise when official announcements are made !

The official figure will be a commercial and marketing choice that Ferrari will do and is a figure between 730 and 760 HP. The real power is around 750 hp and is not the same for every engine, of course.

Great post. There aren't many facts out there (lighter engine, +20% aero effficiency, lots of carbon and that's pretty much it..). The rest is just speculation.

At least one fact to keep us entertained whilst we're waiting for real news: I drove my Speciale this morning, as always, very hard on our deserted, fast sweeping, mountain roads and it still, 4 years in, brings a mega smile to my face! The combination of chassis composure, agility, sound and mega brakes never tires! Speaking of which, she needs the 4th set of tires soon...

I know that McLaren do the same, but theoretically it is not legal to declare false power, especially given the high taxes here in Italy and likely in Europe on hp fiscal number. I accept that no engine is perfectly equal to another, but to declare 720 and have 780 hp like Mecca does is pure illegality, if you pay taxes for 720 hp instead of 780 hp.

I dont know if its tax, in some countrys there are no taxes on powet but on displacement.

Japanesse cars used that trick. And everybody said..."woww that 270 hp lancer evo smacked that 400hp 360 modena. That is amazing tech behind." But the cars had over 400. Same stuff with the nissan gtr.

After Geneva 2018, we will have a painful wait till next 812 LE or 498, not before 2020. So let's enjoy this car now

I think that this criticism is a bit harsh. Like Porsche's suspensions that are harsh without a reason... :D
The 360 was best in class, just like any Ferrari V8 since the 355.

The only official Evo that had 400 BHP was the UK FQ400 version which was tuned locally. A factory Evo cannot hold a candle to a Modena in a straight line.
