Well it was Frank Stephenson, and indeed he has left McLaren to rejoin Mini (ex Ferrari, FCA , Mini etc.)

Agree on 720 front, don't mind the 570 , it is the nicest McLaren for me. Though every McLaren is the same engine no matter the price. They do not have the powertrain Ferrari has that is for sure.

Sure Mac has some way to go in identifying their brand and sorting out their design -hard to overlook that - but hate is far too strong a word. I wouldn't go that far to say that is going on. And insofar as having an suv in a product line up? So long as it delivers the goods and achieves market recognition as being a worthy offering who cares? Now where where we? 488 gto/vs...

but also FCA cars do work with wings:

would like a wing on the 488VS. i still do see the chance that we’ll get an extendible one. as already said likely extendable to the rear instad of raising or flapping it.

Cars are more a passion in certain households than others - bit like the past 114 pages about a car so anxiously awaited. Some referred it all as waste of time, speculative nonsense - others an expression of their passion. These things are never a waste of time! All we need now is a pic of the rear and we're just about done:)...save for a few details such as HP, torques and the 0 to 200 if you will. Ring time an additional bonus especially of it knocks off GT2RS ;)
Then it becomes an exercise in; can we can one and how much$!

McLaren has upped the game immensely in terms of interior ergonomics etc and I really hope Ferrari learn from this. However the McLaren "experience" (which I have been through on the 650S) is not that special. The car was good (not brilliant), the depreciation was "heart stopping" but the lack of extended warranty in my geo was/is the deal breaker. This and too many models make for one very expensive average experience (if you drive the cars hard) as they seem to get offloaded as soon as warranty expires.

McLaren need to figure out if they want "one time" customers or long termers and anecdotally among my mates who own/have owned them they are all one timers.

Ferrari play the "long game" and this is one of the reasons they are so successful outside of extremely well executed products

I personally like the concept and the execution of the FF. The rear translated in person better than in pictures. It could have possibly been improved. The destign criteria imposed on Pininfarina by Ferrari could have compromised some of its design at the rear. The overall shape is curvy and organic. I feel that Ferrari gave a criteria of rear storage capacity and that PF had to design around. Often it's the clients that compromise a good design.

McLarens are great cars too! Love what they push for on the designs and not limit doors to Lambo only. Just my thoughts, Ferrari regardless of aero, most elegant, Lambo designs to the extreme, not very elegant, McLaren is a mix of both inbetween. I love them all! Porsche is a true classic design. Had the 3 posters as a kid. Red Testarossa, those side fins, white countach, those doors, and 911 front.

Bringing this back to our OP. I do really like the 488 GTO. Loved my Speciale, probably the car I missed the most. Those stripes on the 488 GTO did make me think of Ford GT though...show us the real back!

That's great buddy - as soon as I'm at my dealer il get the low down as otherwise I think I may be over stretching myself if I'm not careful !! It's good to know that assuming I get allocations that "pacing" things may be best -

I stopped following this thread, to much.
And, what I guess, the more we speculate for names, the more I think it will be something totaly, completely, unexpected different...

    Well done Ferrari

Ps: greetings from the Daytona 24H

So from comments made on Fchat there should be at least 488VS,488VS Aperta,488 VS LE,presumably 812 VS,maybe 812 Aperta and maybe FXX road version (sort of a La Ferrari VS).Any more ?

I remember when the Speciale was not yet announced. I think we all called that the Monte Carlo.... Likely that the GTO is really going to be called something like the Le Mans. Or Speciale T, or maybe even Monte Carlo....

And if this is close, it’s a bit difficult to pick and choose isn’t it? Presumably you cannot simply refuse an allocation and expect a better one? Tbh, i’d Like to try all of them if I could!

Now that's a line up I may have to sell a body part or two for ..... I must admit an 812 Aperta and FXX Strada would be the zenith of what may be on the horizon - I may have to put in a lot more hours at work and forego a meal a day but well worth it !!! Actually , I may have to fast for quite some time but I'd make the sacrifice ... we are so lucky to have these possible future conundrums /decisions to make - the privilege of owning and planning for future Fcars never leaves me - sounds deep , but I feel so lucky !!

I already have a deposit down on the 812VS. Who knows if it materializes but one needs "excitement" in the future and it also is a motivator as it will cost a fortune :)
