Is there a dedicated UI/UX thread for the different models? Or across the range? We'd all benefit from a unified UI platform, which simply needs different screen sizes. Could be an option when you buy:
    Basic 9" touch screen - $3200
    Carbon 14" touch screen - $6350
Speciale 20" oled superlight touch screen - $11250
The prices are just my suggestions, based on empirical opinion. With carbon cupholders having a range of $1500 - $4500 (various threads).
Alternatively could just make a place for an ipad mini, droid tablet and forgo the cupholder and make a ferrari app :) which the owner can configure. So the owner can display whatever you want on the pad. Navigation, tire pressure, radar warnings, turbo efficiency, battery charge.
    Haven't received my questionnaire yet...
This as a way of introduction. New Ferrari owner with a 488GTB and a Spider on order coming Q1 2018 (fingers crossed).
And I'm sorry to spyderman, I didn't realize the name was taken.

I hope the 488 VS can be ordered without Radio / Navigation etc. Like I have in my Speciale and CS.
very happy that I got a Speciale without Radio/Sat Nav too and I hope Ferrari offers that also in the 488 VS

The Huracan Performante has the most optimal setup IMO. It avoids the 720S's complex fold away (and massive cost after warranty) gimmick screen. It changes depending on mode and in Corsa is very driver focused. The nice thing about it is updates are simple and the UI can be changed entirely with little fuss if Lambo want to.

The 458/488 Nav is an excuse for a Nav and is so bad I use a window mounted Tom Tom instead. Audio controls are a mess too. One really has to put yr music on shuffle and flick between songs from the steering wheel as otherwise its just too complicated. I thought Ferrari had Jonno Ives (from Apple) helping them. They have done a marvelous job with the Lusso BTW. This is evidenced by its ease of use and not needing any instructions to use it. Maybe some of this will translate to the 4xx and beyond.

The 488 nav, as bad as it is, seems to be highly improved from the 458's one - I never managed to use the 458's, while the 488's does more or less the job...

I think good HUD system will be the best solution for Navigation, cuz you are driving without look around the screen map

Because Lambo is helped by Audi, We all know Audi is very advanced at hi-tech infotainment system, so Lambo is sharing Audi’s hi-tech, look at Lambo’s new SUV Urus, the interior and infotainment system is very similar to Audi A7.

Audi’s TT & R8 have superb interiors - proper sports car feel and very minimal controls. They’re really at the top of this game. Ferrari could learn a lot from them. The new McLaren 720S UI is average - still too many buttons/controls.

When one drives any other performance car one can only marvel at the beauty and simplicity of the mannetino. All you need is 5 positions and a soft suspension button. Nobody else has gotten close that level of simplicity and refinement. So Ferrari can do it when they put their mind to it.

I wonder what's the appeal of touch screens and menus. They are dreadful things; a physical knob or button is much easier to use and you don't have to take your eyes off the road trying to accurately tap a spot on a screen while also contesting with the movement and all the forces exerted on you.

Yeah, you are right. I remember when Ferrari first time introduced 458’s new dashboard design at 2009, it was mind blowing, two 5 inch TFT screen on each side and mechanical tachometer at the center, this design is really awesome and with the new steering wheel it looked very futuristic, like fighter jet dashboard, then so many manufacturers followed this dashboard concept, look at the latest Bugatti Chiron and Porsche Panamera, they all used this concept for their dashboard design but more evolved hi-tech. I think Ferrari should bring another mind blowing dashboard design for the 488 replacement and of course with the latest hi-tech.

Actually Ferrari designate the 812 as a sportscar, an Aventador rival. It's just that the engine is front-mid mounted instead of rear-mid.

Don't see the need for a big display in the console of a supercar.

In addition, allows designers to not have the huge screens everywhere which may be useful--but risk making the car look more "gadgety". Gadgety is a something that is hard to associate with timeless.

I know that...its just my personal opinion...it look really nice in the Portofino and on longer Trips there is nothing wrong with a little more "tech-comfort"..sure you can "enjoy" just the V12 for 6-8 hours..but you dont have to...if i could have ordered the 812 with that display i would have... ;-)

Regardless of what system they eventually use, they should offer a reasonably priced upgrade path to owners of the model. So if I buy an 812 this month and the 2020 model comes with a slick new UI then I should be able to upgrade. This should be part of their strategy to improve their UI.

I think that all those with confirmed UK allocations will have been told by now. I have a 488, but unfortunately I missed out.

Spoke to a dealer at the weekend who said that only 1 in 7 on his waiting list got an allocation. I guess that those involved in the racing programmes or with multiple ownerships will have had priority, which is fair enough.

Very disappointing, but maybe there will be a further release at some stage.

At least I have a confirmed allocation of an 812 for 2019, so all is not doom and gloom!!

Agreed. Sounds like someone is using an air compressor in the 2nd part of the video. The faint whistle at the beginning could be the turbochargers.

True true. But there are times when the passenger can be made of good use - such as when you are on it and too pre-occupied having fun to re enter new co ordinates. Google maps is so efficient....
