    True but I guess for us in Aus it will come down to the list price too. Most 2rs orders so far are Weissach I'm told. You getting one?

    It's a 100%. If VS invite doesn't materialize in next few days then I'm pulling the trigger on the 2 order.... can't afford to wind up with neither. It's a lot of coin for a 911, but opportunities like this are very rare iykwim.

    The question is: detuned for a later 488 LE or detuned for a later 498/499 successor?
    Likely they save something for the 750 LT, mecca is warned, no more the only one doing hp game.

    That IS the big question. I'm hoping it's the later. Be terrible to later discover there is a vvs...

    I understand but already had a 3RS and now GT4 and absolutely love the GT4 and hope a new one arrives. Still hoping for the 488VS

    It depends on the 488 LE for Challenge owners, if it's only taylor made livery and interior trims the engine power will remain the same, but if Ferrari wants to differentiate a bit more the VS from the LE, LE is likely to get 20 PS more, to have 750 claimed in total. I think 498 should have 3,999 cm3 engine, probably hybrid, so the hp gap would be important.

    VS is my first choice too - still have a couple of Porsche's (inc TTS). Awesome car/s but 488 is new ground for me and would really like to build on that experience.

    You could be right - i'm told the current increase is the largest ever seen in this type of car and I guess that's happened due to 720 and now 2rs at 700. But they did make better than the 730 (which doesn't surprise me) so...

    It's possible there will be a 20cv gap, just like between the 488 and the J50.

    @Jelial Thanks for the photo.

    Interesting how they specify 488 GTB ownership (not spider) ownership as part of the criteria.

    This is my thought, as it seems unlikely that the successor in 2020 will have only 20 hp more from the ICE, that likely will be enlarged at 3.999 l, but, to me also a 488 LE only different in livery and gills is not believable. We are speaking, if rumours are true, of a unique limited edition for Challenge Racers and XX partecipants, the most valuable customers and passioned Ferrari Enthusiast, to be released after the Aperta, likely at Geneva 2019, I think the timing will be perfect to have a 750 hp V8 Limited Super Car to rival with 750 LT. The last non hybrid v8 mid engine model, a bit more power to get more hype and please the Challenge Racers seems reasonable.

    I guess we'll have to wait to see who is the winner of the 2018/19 "HP Wars"! Seems first manufacturer to show their hand automatically lines themselves up to get beaten by the comps next offering...and so it goes. It'll have to stop somewhere...

    Yeah, it's quite tiring this endless war, but now Ferrari has understood the trick and they know how to manage this, the issue is that after the ICE limit, all the battle will be on electric components XD. Anyway, 488 VS will remain a superb car, best VS Ferrari since decades. SuperCar of the year for all, english automotive magazines included.

    Why the allocation and customer vetting process if you make so many? Dont need to bother with all of that just take orders and sell them. Hence why I believe the run will be quite short

    They plan certainly less, since they cannot be sure all customers fulfilling one single criteria will want a car, and they also want to make sure they produce less than the demand will be. So they will have to manage how they spread the remaining cars (if there are some) after they allocate to the highest priority customers (it's also not clear how they would consider the criterias, e.g. will they give the top priority to customers fulfilling the first criteria over customers fulfilling several criterias?)
    Managing a relative rarity is also good for the brand, it will allow to keep an image of exclusivity while they increase the global production to 10,000 cars a year.

    By "Version Speciale" are they referring to a either a CS/Scud/Speciale OR just a 458 Speciale ?
