A 107 designation is a wet sump engine (115 is a dry sump engine). I assume a Kyalami uses a wet sump engine so that would be the correct designation.

I want a Kyalami; please let me know about this car if you decide to pass on it.

I should had said it had a non-matching engine :)

Once you get it, post some photos and let me know what you think of the car. The Kyalami was not imported into the USA and I'm itching to get one, just to try it out.

    Ivan, I don't get it.
In principle, an AM129 car (Kyalami) with an AM107 engine (the wet sump V8) may still be matching numbers if it has the same *....* number following the AM... designation.

I agree, it is most likely its original engine. The numbers that follow it would confirm it. My comment about "I should had said it had a non-matching engine :)" was meant as a joke since I'm somewhat interested in a Kyalami and I could buy it after Frank decided it was not worth pursuing.

I have a RHD 1981 Maserati 4.9 automatic Kyalami and the last six digits of the chassis and engine number match. The correct engine tipo is AM 107.

Congrats Frank, well done, there can't be many 4.9 Kyalamis down under. Terry nice to see you here, long time since we met at Moroso/Palm Beach raceway!

    Hello Frank,

if i have the correct informations, then the following engines were installed in the following vehicles:

    4.9 Engine with serial number : AM107.23.49 ( Kyalami + Quattroporte III )

So if your car has the (Chassis) VIN Number AM129-0260 , then it is matching.

I congratulate you on your purchase, on the first picture it looks as if the vehicle is in a nice condition.

We look forward to more pictures :)

Best regards from the other end of the world

    Zdenek

0260 must be the chassis number, and the 49 indicates the 4.9 liter engine. No idea what the 23 means
