The first picture even with a slight perspective effect that all pictures have, shows clearly that the three parallel lines passing through the center of the rear inner lights, the lower section of the inner exhaust pipes and the top edge of the diffuser. Despite not being a scientific method in the first picture we can tell the diffuser is well leveled. In the following pictures however is pretty evident the diffusers aren't leveled because all the lines are parallel to each other and equally subjected to any the perspective effect but the red ones are passing where they should be and the green ones are angled with the top edge of the diffusers.

Interesting that it is always the left side that is lower. The 2nd pic where it appears lower on the right is actually a reverse image (note the key is backwards). I can’t imagine that he diffuser itself isn’t squared, which means it must be the mounting point or the mounting hardware that is the cause ... and always on the left. These people make art ... And while historically there have been certain quality quirks, I have to believe they are aware of this and are correcting. Would hope that newer deliveries would not look like these.

That’s an even greater compliment to the balance of the 812 given that it is rear wheel drive and has such high hp and torque!

I bet many Ferrari have some neven body work, it’s easier to spot when two linear structures are close together such as is the case with the 812 rear diffuser. If these two linear edges were a little farther apart, the unevenness would not be as noticeable,

I’m sure the factory will try to find a simple solution such as using some shims.

You're linking to the page, not to the picture.

In this case you can't right click and get the image URL because the photographer has disabled downloading. But you can dig a bit in the code. It probably can be done even easier.

The paint correction really brings out the 'blue' in that blu TdF color! Interesting angle there.

I'm amazed how we talk about 'paint correction' as if it is an expected part of ownership. Had my Lusso corrected to remove orange peel and now looks like glass but do we now just accept the factory finish is no more than the starting point?

This has been discussed for years. The factory has no interest in paint perfection. As long as they sell every Ferrari they make why fix what they do not think is “broken”

One more pic of that dutch 812 with exhaust surroundings in body color. That shot is quite nasty

Not to kill your eager for this brutal machine, but I think the old 550 Maranello is more stylish and look better, from about every angle with a less agressive and more classy styling. The ass of the 812 looks just like the new Corvette. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Agree with you. I ended up going with the standard rear bumper side colors. Did some some crude editing and the only better view IMO was from the rear when using body color for the read bumper side color (at least for Blu Electtrico).

Time is money. I believe the orange peel is perhaps related to the curing time for the paint.
However the current paint facilities at the factory offers 65 different paint colors. Special colors are still done elsewhere. Also because of the carbon finish some cars like the LaFerrari have different technical requirements for their painting and are done elsewhere to. The factory paint facilities do six cars at once and the work never stops. Also they don't do the colors typically in batches of the same color.
There were some comments about the Ferrari equipment used not being up to the same equipment standards the Germans for example used on their production cars.
Some of the paint correction is needed for damage inflicted by improper cleaning and polishing; done long after the paint work is completed...

When I had my 458 done in F1 2007 Nuevo Rosso Scuderia, the paint was perfect. It was painted out of the factory.

Because I believe that colour isn’t done by the factory but by Zanessi
