'99s were the same as any other M. My '99 dash has the three dials across as the pic you show does. Agree, the ad is rather cryptic.

That photograph from the craigslist ad in Miami is lifted from the Second Daily site. I remember the key, fob, and aftermarket black floor mat from the listing.

 

Yes, that car has been discussed. It's being consigned by a dealer out of Germany. And I too love the interior!

 

99 wasn't anykind of a transition year. 98 was the intro of the Modificato upgrades to the original 456. Your photo is correct for an M, his is an original interior.
And best of luck getting a non-negotiable $145k for improperly described and represented cars. Really, I wish him all the best. It would reset valuation for an honest low mileage M with documentation and service history much to my own personal advantage. Alas, highly, highly unlikely!!

I thought there was a transition. Nice detail to know it was the last of the original 456's that got the M upgrades to the interior.

If there were any builds that used the M interior and the original exterior, they would have to be late 97 or early 98 production, wouldn't they? 98 was the intro of the Ms so I would seriously doubt that such a mix of characteristics would go down the line as a 99 build. But heck, with all the inconsistency in this ad that folks are pointing out, getting all hung up on the model year is probably just me being pedantic.

 

456s are 456s and 456Ms are 456Ms. The two did not mix interiors or other componentry except common features. Even when Ferrari built prototypes/early production models, they were brought up to production standards before being sold.

 

Fifth owner? That's news to me, I have owned it for the last 11 years. Paint is very good, and to my knowledge, original. Runs and drives nicely, thank you.

 

Will it be relisted? Maybe just put an asking price out?

He seems quite honest and straight forward about the condition of the car, and he drove it 500 miles, so I think I'd get a PPI. If that goes well, make an offer.

The shields appear to be fake, though. How far from Cypress to Dallas? I'd drive up and take a look.

 

I ran a Carfax before bidding—here is a screen shot of the first page. You could very well be correct but based on the documentation at the time the auction was still live, the lack of communication on the last day of the auction, and traffic on the auction site there was little chance of meeting your reserve . I actually think it may be more like 2+ years, since I had considered looking into it when I was looking for mine, coming up on 2 years. I love the color combo but the condition ultimately turned me away.

A search on the vin here will turn up discussions from the past (on this same thread, I believe) - it’s very much been discussed.

I often fail to check the dates on these things. I responded to a ten year old comment once.

 

I purchased the car in 2007 from Santiago Motors. They titled it in their name, so that counts as one owner I assume. Allegedly, the previous owner had died. The original owner just passed away in the last year. Thus, I know I am at least the 3rd "legitimate" owner. I dont consider consigners to be owners.

 

The thing that turned me off of that car was the Dash leather, which looks bad over the instrument cluster, and the damage to the driver's seat. Not to mention the other issues.

 

Did you see the car or just the photos. I saw the remnants of a flame war in the add section. Couldn't find anything in this post..

BTW you can go to www.vincheckup.com and get the same info as a carfax for 24.95 instead of 35 something. Just fyi.
